I have been working at AvtechTyee (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a dynamic and active company that is also on the go.

    Cons

Due to the amount of work that is demanded, things can easily pile up.

    Advice to Management

Make sure you have the manpower necessary to do the jobs at hand.

I worked at AvtechTyee full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Easy mindless work.

    Cons

Supervisors have superiority complex, all of them. H.R. does absolutely nothing to protect you from harassment even after you report it. Thankless and monotonous. Steer clear of this company.

    Advice to Management

Get off your high horse, this job is not as lucrative as you think. I had another job the day after I left.

I worked at AvtechTyee full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work never kept you bored. It's was challenging and a great learning experience. Everyone I worked with was more than happy to answer questions and help in learning the parts and machines. The managers and office people were very helpful and nice. If it wasn't for the fact I moved back to ohio I would definitely still be working there

    Cons

They want you to work alot of overtime. For people that for some reason don't like overtime it may take getting used to.

    Advice to Management

I don't have any advice. Sorry I had to leave.

I worked at AvtechTyee full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Every other Friday off was nice if you were able to. People in production worked most of them while I worked there. Birthday treats, turkeys for thanksgiving were nice gestures but not enough to make you feel that the company valued your work.

    Cons

Planning seemed very non-existent which made it very stressful for supply chain employees and getting thrown under the bus was a way of life. While you were told if you had a better way to do something getting things changed was next to impossible. There was a definite division between the workers and management and some managers could be very condescending. There were some great people working there but the ones that weren't could make it difficult to do what was needed to be done.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees like you would want to be treated and appreciate the hard work they do. Employees that are treated right want to do a good job for you.

I worked at AvtechTyee full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Allowed to work without being micro managed.

    Cons

Management is extremely arrogant and even though it has been proclaimed to listen and have an open door policy that is not the case. If you worked for Tyee prior to Avtech merge you are dirt on the bottom of the wingtip shoe.

    Advice to Management

Listen! People really do know what they are doing. Look! Quit the tunnel vision and walking by those who talk all day, Facebook and text. This is for both on the shop floor and in the office.

I have been working at AvtechTyee full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Over time and lots of it, granted there is no choice in whether you work it or not and the pay isn't great so again not much of a choice

    Cons

Since Avtech has taken over the shop floor has been steady decay, management has no perspective no clue. Tools, measuring equipment, anything of use takes hours to find if they even exist, the floor is run more like a tale of modern slavery

    Advice to Management

Trip and stub your nose you over paid good for nothings you got less then five years before you run it to the ground, seppuku is an honorable way out

I worked at AvtechTyee full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid base of existing products and good customer base

    Cons

Ownership (Transdigm, and now Tyee) are focused on milking profits, not the interests of customers or employees. They had a huge loss of engineering talent since the Transdigm acquisition, and customer base is getting fed up with constant pricing increases on aftermarket products to boost numbers. No investments being made in the future.

    Advice to Management

Sell this company to someone who cares about growing and nurturing the product line before you kill it.

    Pros

Tyee used to be a great place to work. Above average pay compared to other similar shops. Great bonuses and really experienced managers/supervisors who knew the trade and were committed real continuous improvement... Not just make people work harder for less pay, but actual improvements in machines, tooling and better engineered quality products.

    Cons

Now it's owned by Transdigm Inc. and has been merged with Avtech Corp to be Avtechtyee Aircraft Inc. They brought in Avtech's management team and pushed out the old team that made the company the success it was. There was a reason Transdigm paid 1.3 BILLION dollars for the group. Almost every person involved in Tyee's success, from managers to supervisors, engineers to inspectors... Have all left because the new management team is completely, to the last man, utterly incompetent when it comes to true aerospace manufacturing. Hundreds of years of experience has walked out the door in the last year and they don't really see it as a big deal.

    Advice to Management

Wise up. Listen to your people with experience. Ditch the weak links and the underperformers. You are now operating below industry standards on all levels. Your customers may not have noticed it yet but those days are almost at an end.

    I worked at AvtechTyee full-time

    Pros

The company gives people within management to advance, but opportunities may be rare. The people are great, and try to support you.

    9/80 schedule.

    Cons

There are not a lot of cons associated with this company if you are in management. A lot of turnover due to the TransDigm culture.
