I worked at Awin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company reputation is very well seen in other marketing companies.
There are some great people in Engineering / IT OPS / System Engineering teams.

    - Repositories are dockerised
    - Great support from other teams
    - Great architecture team that cares to improve things
    - Some internal engineering talks
    - Possibility to work from another office (I know guys who moved from London to Berlin office, and from London/Berlin offices to Baltimore in US). This is very rare though and happens in exceptional cases (you've been warned!)
    - Engineering department has WFH privileges 3 days / week

    Cons

    - Lots of legacy code
    - Lack of testing in production team
    - No career progression from production team
    - As it's a big company keep in mind they are very slow in changes their processes
    - Lots of politics
    - If you don't get along with managers you will have a really hard time
    - Previous experience is not reflected in your salary
    - You will not get a raise and the money is really low compared to competition
    - No WFH privileges in production team as engineering even though it's in the same department
    - The work perks were not really useful for me - I felt it was just another marketing trick to make you think company is great
    - The training opportunities they promise you are false, and I never got my Personal Development Planning (PDP) even though it was promised almost a year ago (then I left the company).
    - The training budget for training is 100 pounds which is very low. If you opt in for that, you have to sign a special agreement that you will stay with the company for X amount of time, and pass on the knowledge to others by giving internal talks.
    - The open space plan doesn't really work - being next to account managers who are on the phone all day and loud, is not going to help you concentrate
    - Very very difficult to move from production to engineering
    - HR won't really solve any problems with your manager, you simply have to leave to stay sane

    Advice to Management

    - Don't falsely advertise roles - this is unethical
    - Don't say there are no politics
    - If you don't care about your personal growth, don't drag others down

I have been working at Awin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Young and international environment, newest technology, ability to work with well-renowned advertisers and publishers. Always new developments and existing collaborations. Great events.

    Cons

Internal systems are a patch-work and reporting is time-consuming. Tech teams in different countries have developed their own additional systems, sometimes there are several solutions to the same problem and sometimes it's hard to know what tools are available. Alignment is on it's way though.

    Advice to Management

Increase salaries to lower staff turnover, invest in managers with experience of leading teams. It seems like keeping costs down is more important than creating a functional and businesslike environment.

I worked at Awin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

zanox offers an excellent network of both corporate and industry contacts on a global level. Working with partners, i.e. Publishers and affiliates, agencies and advertisers, opens access to international top-level professionals. The technological insight into the industry of digital advertising is extremely valuable.

    Cons

Even though a more or less unavoidable effect, it is a downside: Being a former start-up that has been acquired by a huge media company and ramped up to a leading global player, old veterans might miss the innovativeness that has made zanox to what it is. Also it appears that to some trends the reaction could have been a tad more swiftly.

    Advice to Management

My position did not actually allow giving advice to the management of an internationally leading company, but still I will try: Valuing co-workers as important resources would have at least made the day-to-daybusiness slightly less frustrating for some people and might even have led to an additional strength of the company.
