  2. "Old fashioned! Not just in terms of values, but the policies and pay are also stuck in the past."

I worked at BDI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are related to someone who already works there then you will fit right in, seriously there are so many "families" working at this company.

    Cons

Be careful who you talk to and what you say (see above). Pay is competitive for 1992, raises do not even cover the increases in cost of living. This company is loyal to a fault, if you have been there for 10+ years they will promote you over a college graduate to a manager level position, even if you have no experience or training, and no matter how awful you are at it, the job is yours until you retire.

    Advice to Management

Need to review the updates to human resource policies since the 1970's. There is sexism, nepotism, racism, ageism, bigotry, breach of confidentiality, and any other HR nightmare you can imagine.

    Pros

Great company to work for! It is independently owned, so no shareholders to make happy. Great benefits, average pay. Company treats employees like shareholders. Best experience ever with a large employer.

    Cons

Smaller then most companies, pay is about average.

    Nothing

    Pros

Nice hourly pay and flexible schedule. I enjoyed working with my clients and their families. There were a few materials to sign out. There were so nice team members who really cared about the job.

    Cons

Extensive travel and Uncoordinated office administration. The secretary was very unprofessional in both appearance and attitude. Based treatment off personal biased opinion. Made for uncomfortable work environment.

    Advice to Management

More training for administration. More organization of Tss and bsc teams to ensure continuity of care.

    I worked at BDI full-time

    Pros

Great product with a loyal retail and customer base.

    Cons

High level of micromanagement with 'one' accepted way of doing things. Diversity of views is not encouraged or appreciated. Outside 'experts' are more highly valued than employees. The core value of 'sweating the details' is taken to an extreme and provides the founder license to meddle until a product is launched. Performance feedback is not provided.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate diversity of views. Focus on the result and not the process. The company has talented employees. Let them do their job. Praise success and mentor when results are not what you expect.
