Pros

I enjoyed working with the other consultants (most of whom voluntarily left for other jobs). We bonded over our shared misery and frustration.

Cons

I expected better treatment from a so-called Human Resources consulting company. Management (the CEO, the COO, and the Managing Director) create a negative environment that thrives on gossip and paranoia. The CEO openly bad mouths and defames ex-employees as if to justify that the shortcomings within the company are not the reasons people no longer want to work there. If you enjoy having your legal knowledge and expertise erased from your brain so you can generate reports that are continuously and closely scrutinized by a non-attorney (who isn't even authorized to review work performed for certain government contracts), then this is the place for you. Otherwise, I cannot in good conscience recommend this employer to anyone. I was made to feel as if my work was subpar while being promised opportunities for advancement that never materialized. Also, PAYCHECKS BOUNCE! At least four of my co-workers reported that their paychecks bounced (one of them said their paycheck bounced "multiple" times). Rather than be apologetic, the CEO usually just laughed it off and the COO denied any knowledge of the bounced paychecks (the COO and the CEO are married so I doubt that). The Managing Director is neither a "manager" nor a "director". She is not helpful or proactive and just looks irritated when anyone asks for help. Even the wonderfulness of the Trader Joe's next door cannot offset the awfulness of this toxic environment. The day I left was one of the happiest days of my life.

Pros

Trader Joes in next door, good location, parking and your co-workers. Everyone you work with is really smart and hard-working and they will be the ones you will commiserate with about this horrible job

Cons

First of all, do not buy into the false "good" reviews by the current employees. I guarantee the current employees wrote them with the threat of termination looming over their heads. Your checks will BOUNCE! These people are constantly in debt. You will feel the pressure all month long, but more so at the end of the month as the owners wig out because they cannot afford to pay their employees. You are given ZERO training. They throw you to the wolves (luckily you have co-workers who lead the way). Alleged "Big Clients" are always being talked about but they never seem to want to finalize contracts with Bashen (bc they run away). You will be promised opportunities to move up but will spend the majority of your time locked in your office drafting Reports of Investigation all day. You will learn nothing about the world of Employment Law except how to regurgitate facts in a long report. Bonuses never seem to materialize either. Anyway, there are so many restrictions, you will not get them even if you are eligible. Fun Fridays are the only good thing about this job! However, unless you work your butt off Monday-Thursday, you will find yourself coming in each and every Fun Friday. Rarely do people stay longer than a year. You will either be terminated for no good reason or you will go flying out of there never to look back. This is the worst job experience I ever had. I cannot imagine that a place could be worse. This is just a long way of saying, you will be out of here in a year so just wait for the better job offer that I am sure is just around the corner.

Pros

Learned a great deal about EEO investigations. Working at Bashen has made me appreciate even the worst of bosses even more!

Cons

Culture of micromanagement and inflexibility. Managers/owners create a culture of instability and fear. Extremely high turnover. Management refuses to see themselves as the common denominator to turnover year after year.
