    Pros

There are a lot of Pro's working at Benchmark Group, benefits, Staff, but lately it's the flexibility of the company and the way they care about each other that makes me happy I work at Benchmark Group. This year has been a rough one for some of our Staff and they have had to take time off work for medical, family, friends, etc. and they all still have their jobs, plus support from the Staff. Staff have prayed, brought food to the families (when necessary), purchased baked goods to help raise money for fund raisers and just supported fellow Staff Members during rough times. Benchmark Group is not only the best place that I have worked, but the most caring. You don't find this at many other companies.

    Cons

Every company has Cons, but the pros just outweigh the cons here at Benchmark Group. Maybe move into a smaller building would be the only thing I would like to see change at Benchmark Group.

    Advice to Management

Start having Staff meetings again so that Management can keep Staff informed. Sometimes unnecessary rumors get started that could be ended with just a short meeting.

I worked at Benchmark Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are at least a bit competent you can push up quickly to the middle ranks. It stops after that. If you want to just work and work and never have to think outside the box or innovate, this is your paradise.

    Cons

Low pay if you haven't worked there a decade, nepotism, arbitrary rules and processes. General opposition to progress. Complete lack of talent in upper management. For the young and inspired, you will quickly realize that this is a dead end job. Amazing amounts of overhead.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of everyone in upper management, replace them with people who know how to run a medium sized company, and you'll do fine.

I worked at Benchmark Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great benefits! Family oriented. Talented people. Above average compensation. Promotes from within. Mission Statement is ambitious and gives hope.

    Cons

Management and overall leadership traits. Members of one family holds most top positions, owner doesn't see all issues. Middle management doesn't have authority necessary to deal with major issues that arise. Too many second chances are given to those not deserving. The talent is not recognized by management and in turn, under talented are promoted due to pure education and not first hand experience in the field. One major client and very few intermittent opportunities are bound to be the demise of this otherwise hard working, good intentioned company.

    Advice to Management

*Go for local clients and lessen your dependency on the larger 'one' client.
*Allow your working mid level management to make a decision and stand behind them to enable strong teams to develop with less frustration.
*Know the problems of your teams (dig deeper for honesty from team members for the truth) as it doesn't always get relayed upward.
    *I wish you future success.

I worked at Benchmark Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture/Atmosphere, plenty of overtime opportunities, plenty of training opportunities, training re-embursement, up to date technology and software programs, 5, 10 and 20 year perks, great people to work with, library, documentation of procedures for every job and task, awesome management, awesome supplies, many many more but too numerous to put them all in here. Amazing place to work as long as the main client gives plenty of work to do.

    Cons

1.They've got all their eggs in too few baskets. When major client cuts back on work they want done it effects the company tremendously and leads to layoffs. They need to expand to more clients. Needs a professional marketing person to find more clients.
    2. Admin pay is WAY below national average.

    Advice to Management

    1. Find a professional Marketing person.
    2. Get more Clients!! So you don't have to keep laying people off due to lack of work.
    3. Pay your Admin Staff better. They are the backbone of your company.
    4. Other than than you are awesome and keep up the good work.

    Pros

    Great pay.
    Friendly co-workers
Position always kept you on your toes.
Always on the front end of the technological curve when it came to their systems.
Very hard working people that KNOW what they're doing

    Cons

At the time, extremely difficult to balance personal and work time. (On call rotations killed employee moral).
Upper management sometimes forgot the people doing all the hard labor.

    Advice to Management

Hopefully management realized that they were loosing a lot of good, hard working people and changed some of the ways the acknowledged those people so they could stay. People have personal lives as well, hear them out and try to understand why they are complaining.

I worked at Benchmark Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Owner definitely works to take care of staff members. Provided great benefits, functions, outings, etc.

    Cons

Not much in the way of client diversity which led to a significant down sizing which seems to still be occurring to this day.

    Advice to Management

Get back to basics. Diversify your client roster. There are more companies out there than Wal-Mart. Listen to your staff when they bring an idea to the table. They are intelligent and have great ideas to help raise you up and bring you out of the slump you are in.
