I have been working at Beyond full-time

    Pros

I like many aspects of Beyond, but the key differentiators for me are:
    - democratization of creative ideas (everyone is creative)
    - autonomy to own products in cross-functional teams
    - focus around delivering value, rather than hitting arbitrary deadlines or creating throwaway gimmicks
    - smart, honest and collaborative team members who support each other
    - constant energy to acquire new skills and embrace inevitable change

I believe many of these aspects wouldn't be possible with a larger hierarchical organization.

    Cons

The downside of a flatter hierarchy is that it's less clear where the opportunities to grow are within the company. Rather than traversing up a traditional ladder, it's more about expanding into new product areas and skills. Another downside with autonomous teams is that it's really on you and your team to define how you work, and some teams do need more support/structure.

    Advice to Management

Keep what you're doing, you're onto a good thing! But bear in mind that in a flatter organizational structure you need to make it clear where the opportunities lie to grow and progress in a career.

I worked at Beyond full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I can honestly say it has been a pleasure working at Beyond.
    • Supportive and collaborative environment.
    • 0% Egos.
    • Company culture that fosters professional growth.
    • Great place to learn from one another.
    • Flat hierarchy.
    • Minimal micro management.
    • Leadership on point (Leads and MD) are very professional, very open and approachable.
    • Pretty non-existent night culture (Due to the fact people know what they're doing and work efficiently during work hours).
    • Intelligent, passionate and creative peers.
    • Culturally diverse staff with sense of humour.

    Cons

    • Can get very heavy on Google work.
    • Could diversify in new clients (Products).

    Advice to Management

    • Keep up the great work and keep listening to your staff especially as the company continues to grow and evolve.

I have been working at Beyond full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - The multitude of projects offer a variety of creative challenges for all disciplines.
    - The employees are talented, creative problem solvers and work diligently.
    - The CEO and upper management are transparent with employees. Every voice is heard and large decisions are often made democratically.
    - There is no micromanagement. Employees are free to work how they see fit, within reason of course.
    - Management astutely recognizes employee strengths and helps create conditions which empower them to grow.
    - Coming to work everyday is a pleasure.

    Cons

With rapid, frequent growth spurts, there are short lived times of instability and disorder. Beyond always adjusts quickly and with poise.

    Advice to Management

Continue doing exactly what you are doing and you will retain happy employees that are excited to come to work everyday.

I have been working at Beyond full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The work, people, and perks all vie for the best part of working at Beyond. I knew in my interview the culture here was special, and after almost a year I don't just feel professionally at peace: The support and camaraderie here have boosted my happiness in and outside the office. The projects and products we undertake are challenging but invigorative, serious but dynamic. I don't dread coming to work. I look forward to it.

    Cons

Beyond has created an amazing place to work, but it expects a lot in return. You need a lot of drive, flexibility, and talent to thrive in the environment. It's rarely easy but it's always good.

    Advice to Management

Keep on keepin' on. Please. In all of our growth and new business we've only improved as a company and culture. That's due to your great leadership.

I have been working at Beyond (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Excellent client roster with experience across multiple types of engagements and project-work
    - Great people with a good sense of humor
    - Flat structure which promotes growth and entrepreneurial spirit
    - Opportunity for growth and expansion within industry across a number of different verticals
    - Open to all kinds of skills, passions and people who want to work hard and achieve great things

    Cons

Constantly adapting and changing to fit the needs of the industry. A pro for many, a con for those who are averse to a rapidly changing environment.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

You're working with pretty bright, innovative, fun coworkers with a sexy book of clients. Upper management seems solid.

    Cons

It's one of those companies where a lot of effort is placed in fitting in and being cool. The environment feels really young and it's a big drinking culture. Lower management does not communicate well or provide any type of guidance at all. They feel more like someone you hope you're cool and in with otherwise you'll get left behind in the dust.

    Advice to Management

Upper management please guide your lower management to better lead a team.

    Pros

Casual and creative environment, decent benefits, and diverse projects with a range of big-name clients. It's a good company for someone starting out in the field and looking to build a portfolio.

    Cons

Below-market-rate salaries, casual sexism, and a seriously incompetent HR department. There's a lot of cronyism, and the rules seems to apply differently to different people. The casual attitude that makes the office fun unfortunately applies to management, as well—if someone makes you a promise, be sure to get it in writing.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your team. Spend the extra money to hire the right people instead of hiring friends on the cheap.
