    Advice to Management

    Pros

Bloomy has a large variety of work with many different industries.
    Small company with good people.
Many opportunities to make an impact on the future of the company

    Cons

    Too focused on National Instruments.
Needs to invest on internal development
Needs to decide future direction, and commit

    Advice to Management

The company is in a state of transition, and it is not clear that the whole of the management team is on board. Either commit to becoming a product company or focus on consulting, straddling the fence is difficult and frustrating.

I worked at Bloomy full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Great small company vibe
    Fast paced environment
Wide variety of projects to broaden your experiences
Great balance of customer interaction and technical work

    Cons

Most engineers are off on their own working directly with customers
This leads to minimal tribal knowledge since many best practices are not shared among team members
    Bonus system is bogus
Lacks good business processes for making consulting profitable

    Advice to Management

Building strong processes for customer interaction, project management, development cycles, and QA are vital to the success of consulting firms like this.

    Pros

Small company with great benefits, interesting and varied work assignments, management that truly cares about the well-being of employees.

    Cons

Occasional long work hours when project deadlines loom.

    Advice to Management

Try to see things from the employee's perspective -- they're not business owners and have different priorities than you do.
