I worked at Boise Paper full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Free living accommodations
    - Health benefits packages
    - Very experienced work environment and employees

    Cons

    - Very little downtime
    - Some employees and managers are ego-driven
    - Very isolated paper mills

    Advice to Management

Listen to staff more, be willing to adapt to a changing work environment and new business ethics or be prepared to be left behind in the industry.

I worked at Boise Paper full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, decent benefits which have dwindled with time, dedicated people

    Cons

Poor management that likes shiny new toys but has a very short attention span, trying to save their way into profitability, prone to the program of the day

    Advice to Management

Your culture sucks. Your managers are better at CYA than papermaking. One mistake is career threatening so no one takes any initiative.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Friendly environment, very nice and helpful people. Many projects to work on and always opportunities to learn. Very self driven to get work done, flexible hours as long as work was done. Strong focus on safety and promoting safe habits.

    Cons

Very busy, always something to do, sometimes stressful. Not very accepting of change. Training methods could use improvement, my training was more self taught. Some long hours and needed to work unscheduled weekends and late nights.

I worked at Boise Paper full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I worked in sales for several years and enjoyed every minute. Boise has good people, high ethics, a good product, they treat their people well, pay and benefits at or above average for the industry.

    Cons

The paper industry is consolidating due to foreign competition and technology replacement. How many people write checks, use 3 part forms, or use copier paper as much as in the past.

    Advice to Management

    keep up the good work
