I worked at Build Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

They have high aspirations. Projects are challenging and people are good to work with for the most part. They empower their employees and hold them
    accountable.

    Cons

High aspirations, low integrity. High turnover. The company operates very lean, doesn't invest in resources for the employees and don't invest in their employees. Projects are bid lean, understaffed which leads to lack of quality and a poor reputation with owners.

I have been working at Build Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Excellent experience gained. No ceiling for career growth. Challenging work and changing responsibilities. I like the company culture because it isn't as stiff and soulless as a lot of larger companies. I don't feel like just like employee #2711264 because I have the backing of the senior leadership. They treat you like a human and want you to be successful.

    Cons

Typical problems that you would face in all construction companies (budgets, subs, owners) and senior leadership expects you to deal with it. They give you enough rope to hang yourself. It took a while for them to streamline their internal operations, but it has become much better recently. Very fast growing & young company and it has a taken a while to build a group of core employees and establish continuity. Effort is rewarded.

    Advice to Management

Over staff the jobs at the beginning until everything is bought out and running smoothly to give the project teams the best chance of success. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

I worked at Build Group (Less than a year)

    Pros

The culture of people was great on the whole. Construction and development is a high stress environment but I had a few mentors who definitely took the extra time to get to know me and help guide me.

    Cons

The internship was very loosely structured, no one was really sure of what exactly I was supposed to be doing.

I have been working at Build Group full-time

    Pros

If you work hard you will be recognized and rewarded.
Company has good people who enjoy their work.
Small enough to get involvement with upper management. Large enough to meet new people.
    Engineering training sessions
During down time in a project you can get experience in other parts of the business like estimating and bidding.

    Cons

    Early hours of working.
Sometimes isolated with team on project. Don't spend time with many others within company.

    Advice to Management

PEs in the field should get to go on more job sites and help with problems outside their own main project
