Micromanaging, Top Execs micromanage all of their managers employees, whats the point of having the manager if the Top Execs dont trust their own managers

I have been working at BullsEye Telecom full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work Life balance is good depending on your department, benefits are competitive. Good "foot in the door" company.

    Cons

Management is inconsistent, performance reviews and career growth is highly subjective, some departments offer seemingly unlimited growth whereas others are stagnant. Managers are under-qualified. Too much focus on job title and not enough focus on the job itself. Lack of technical knowledge among staff. Culture between departments is very negative. Upper Management frequently makes decisions impacting structural change without an implementation strategy.

    Advice to Management

Hold employees and management team to a higher standard. Create a consistent method to evaluate employee performance & goals that is not subjective based on management chain. Reward excellence, and stop rewarding complacency. Train management staff to become better leaders and to make smarter choices, don't just take over and ignore shortcomings. Focus on the customer and the big picture, not just the issue of the day. Expand training department to allow for more time dedicated to on-the-job training specific to individual departments, not just overview training that is generic for all. Training should be tailored to the department. Would suggest hiring someone to write consistent process documentation that should be universally followed. Create customer facing and internal communication standards for all employees. Develop more technical training for employees, the customers should not know more about Telecom than the staff. Hold managers and employees accountable to the level of knowledge and skills they should have at their level and experience. Don't fear change, fear lack of growth.

    Pros

Ability to influence the direction of the company, in my position.

    Cons

Difficult, Insensitive Management, with interest in thier own destiny. Very little concern for thier employees, their ideas. Very under staffed, no budgets, unrealistic deadlines, no concern for what it takes to do the job right to provide value to it's customers.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the customer, focus on employee satisfaction.

    Pros

Great and Knowledgeable employees in lower level jobs

    Cons

Systems are scattered, Management has no people skills, Management is juvenile and complain all day and sabotages employees who they feel could do managements job better.

    Advice to Management

Take some Dale Carnegie courses and apply them. Get rid of management who is very closed minded and is more worried about getting employees fired than growing an employee.

    Pros

Great work environment, always willing to help, learn a lot and worked under some very knowledgable people who have shaped my shirt sales career.

    Cons

Micromanaged, needless meetings, not enough money and the commission structure isn't the greatest. Needs to be a higher base for people that perform.

    Advice to Management

Take advantage of your best performers and pay them accordingly or they are just going to leave and find someone who will do that.
