I have been working at CTDI full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Tuition reimbursements and the insurance.... that's it.

    Cons

They have no way of organizing management. Section heads make more money and have more influence than supervisors (that are higher in rank). There are also multiple supervisors for one location, therefore there are issues with who is in charge of whom.

    Advice to Management

A new organizational chart... appreciate your employees who have worked there for years. Especially when they work every weekend.

My days just fly by and absolutely love everyone on my team. With it being a family owner and privately held company, my opinions are actually listened to!

    Cons

I have been working at CTDI full-time

    Pros

+ Base salary is decent for the area.
+ Health benefits are good (health, dental, vision).
+ Scheduling time off is pretty easy and loose.
    + Better than being unemployed.
+ CEO is a nice guy.

    Cons

    - You're going to work 50-60 hours a week because your non-engineering managers promised a project in too little time.
    - Nepotism runs rampant at the company; if you aren't a Parsons you won't be moving up further in corporate or even getting things purchased on time.
    - Company treats technicians (both part time and full time) like cattle. Lay them off every couple of weeks and then hire them back two weeks later to save a dime.
    - Bonuses are trash and "incentives" can rarely be achieved without working through constant weekends.
    - Upper level management can be outright condescending, angry, and demeaning when they feel even slightly stressed.
    - Takes pretty much half your life to get even one more week of vacation from the initial two weeks.
    - If they don't have a family member to fill a role, they choose the cheapest person on the market.
    - They are increasingly outsourcing all areas of the business overseas.

    Advice to Management

+ Stop lying about how fast you can complete a project/contract just to get the contract. Failing contracts/wasting valuable time looks worse than not getting contracts
    + More vacation time.
+ Work hours should be more flexible.
+ Get rid of archaic dress code for salaried employees.

I worked at CTDI full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

CTDI is a good place to work at if you're a first-tiem worker and you're looking for experience. You'll pick-up a lot of skills and experience the real working world. Also a good place for someone who currently doesn't have a job and needed a labor or technical job for a time-being.

    Cons

Not a good place to work if you're looking for an engineering job or a professional technician job that you can build professional experience. You can't really move anywhere with the company or from the company. You'll still get some work experience though if you never had worked at all in your life like me.

If you're looking for a stable technical job that you can rely your employment status on for a long period of time, CTDI is not a place to work then. When their contract with other companies ended and production slows, the next round of lay-offs hits.

If you prefer a work environment where you are treated fairly. CTDI is not a great place to work. Most of their cultural values are the production quantity than the production quality. When you're training for a new assignment, it's best to put effort into learning it quick so that you can race an average worker to show the company you're capable of being able to make the productions they usually wanted.

There's no cafeteria. You are compelled to prepare lunch everyday, whether you're 1st or 2nd shift. There are around 5-7 working microwaves available at least. Bring plenty of Ramen noodles in your car, so if you forgot your lunch or didn't get a chance to make your lunch, you have something to eat. You also can stock your house up with frozen lunches, that would help. Also they do have vending stations that sells snacks and frozen lunches + Ramen noodles in case you don't have anything to eat during lunch break (bit pricey though). The closest fast food restaurant is about 7-8 min away.

    Advice to Management

The management needs to take account into keeping up the parts, supplies, and tools demand more consistently for their workers in order for the production to flow smoothly.
