I have been working at Capitol Records for more than 10 years

    Pros

State-of-the-art facilities, engineering, historical legacy, client satisfaction, production profitability... we all know Capitol Records is an icon of music production in our lifetimes and those who are blessed to work there are grateful. From the security staff (shout-out to Sergio, Ray and Shanaye) to those who are pros in shepherding your project...Capitol provides you with what you're looking for and opportunities for more! Any intern who gets to work with these people should just say what Stevie Wonder loves to say, "God bless you!".

    Cons

bagels and cream cheese available, if you're watching your weight ;-D

I worked at Capitol Records full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Iconic building, legacy catalogue, young staff

    Cons

Literally everything else. Read these reviews and take note. You are completely ignored, under appreciated, and invisible unless you are upper management. (And even then - you're only noticed when you've done something good and then completely forgotten again). This is truly a "major label" environment - no care for art or artists (unless you're making them money), empty promises, only care about $$. Work environment is sterile and unproductive. Senior management is a selfish, egotistical nightmare. Just stay away. Far, far, FAR away.

I worked at Capitol Records full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Beautiful offices, great benefits, above average pay, some very friendly people, great exposure, free employee parking, historic building

    Cons

Bureaucracy always gets in the way of actual work progress, the executives can be very intense to their employees, music is definitely treated as an "asset" first not art. It can be your stereotypical view of a "major record label".

I worked at Capitol Records full-time

    Pros

The work is interesting, many exciting projects coming through covering a range of genres. Lots of great people and history in the building.

    Cons

Self-destructive management - they were completely out of touch with their employees and uninterested in promoting growth and skill/professional development throughout the team. And even though long hours and lots of overtime is just the nature of the job, there were constant scheduling problems and unreasonable demands.

I have been working at Capitol Records

    Pros

awesome perks, if you work in any of the creative departments. Tickets to shows, free music, very fulfilling creatively.

    Cons

The office culture has gotten increasingly intense, so be prepared for a very high pressure and high expectations environment. Uncertainty comes with this industry, so not a con for Capitol, but for record labels in general

    I worked at Capitol Records

    Pros

The center of the music industry, now with a direct line to Universal Music. Some of the best sounding rooms in all of LA.

    Cons

Very little chance of promotion. Little consideration of work/life balance. Poor management.
