I have been working at Catalina full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great NEW management and resources being brought in to turn things around. Dedicated to expanding into newer technologies and products. Good work-life balance, and level of respect between employees and management. Management is hiring good talent and genuinely wants their input.

    Cons

For too long, the company operated without processes or controls. Starting to turn around, but there's a long way to go.

    Advice to Management

Work together (across Product, Sales, Tech...) to figure out where the issues are and be accountable for fixing them.

    Pros

Depends on your department. As an account manager, we had good work life balance and weren't expected to work after hours. company culture is good with lots of events that include alcohol. Good first job and good pay if you are coming right out of school. The office building is really nice and has a gym and cafeteria.

    Cons

All account managers have a group of sales managers they work with. My sales team was very difficult to work with. Not a lot of room for growth since there are 50+ account managers. Most account managers are right out of college so it's a younger team and I would not recommend to a senior employee. Management is obsessed with auditing your work to look for mistakes. That is how they review your performance. Everything must be peer checked which ads unnecessary time to projects.

    Pros

-Senior leadership cares about the employees - employees here are taken care of and it shows! People are happy because there is a work-life balance, flexibility, and leadership stresses that your home/personal life and health come first.
-There is always room for growth. If you work hard and set yourself apart, you will get recognized for that! Leadership likes to see when people want to grow and be challenged, and they will give you the opportunities you are looking for if you show interest. Professional development is also taken very seriously.
-You are allowed to speak up and really make change, which I have found unusual compared to other places I've worked.
-The people are some of the best I've worked with. I have met some of my best friends here.
-Plenty of perks like flex time off, company socials, happy hours, great benefits, etc.
-The organization is shifting gears and is really working towards adapting with today's market - being a part of that was an awesome experience.

    Cons

There really aren't many to list. At times, the type of work is not the most creative or exciting, but Catalina allows you to branch out and try different things if you are interested in going down a different path.

    Advice to Management

Continue to make Catalina one of the best places to work. Your care for the employee truly shows throughout and it is a reason that many people stick around!

    Pros

    Life balance.
Base salary and cash bonuses are not bad for newcomers.

    Cons

Executive and senior leadership comes and go.
Very indecisive mediocre IT leadership without a vision and commitment.
Company has no chief architect who could govern all existing platforms and development policies.
Company divided into silos where one team has almost no influence on another. Promotions with below market salaries.
Company tries to keep bad performers if they are full time employees.

    Advice to Management

Spin off Catalina Platform Development Services sub-company where developers can be proud of own achievements and not feel like a second class employees of a marketing company.
Invest into own full time employees not to offshore.

I worked at Catalina full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

While flipping channels one night, I came across this classic movie. The movie centers around the events of Operation Market Garden which was an attempt by Allied forces to take various strategic bridges in the Netherlands. As a result of poor planning and mismanagement, the mission was a huge failure. This summary could also describe a typical day at Catalina.
The priorities are constantly changing based on which incompetent General is running the show that day. Generals come and go frequently at Catalina and the troops in the trenches are best not to get attached. It seems the Generals are not in touch with the ground troops and often the marching orders are simply “do as I say, not as I do” which leaves much to interpretation.
Unlike Catalina, military personnel are trained, well prepared and willing to die for the cause. There is little preparation time at Catalina with the constantly shifting priorities and lack of transparent communication. Many Generals do not care about the soldiers on the front lines while they are safe in the offices. If there are casualties, the Generals don’t seem to lose much sleep, they simply state this is war and move on. The best thing is the comradery between the soldiers in the trenches.

    Cons

It’s not worth dying for! Make sure you have your affairs in order as any day could be your last.

No cohesive plan of attack. Troops going in various directions and may eliminate each other with “friendly fire”.

No ammunition. Lots of talk but little action. While the Generals fighting with each other the enemy is gaining ground and will ambush you.

Fear of retribution if you do the right thing.

    Advice to Management

Make the Generals prove themselves with actions and not words. No more excuses and broken promises. The longer you let incompetence make the battle plans the more likely you will experience a mutiny and lose the war. If you ask the soldiers in the trenches for honest opinions, don’t put them in front of a firing squad when they do.

I have been working at Catalina full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    FTO.

    Real commitment to work-life.

    Many employee appreciation events.

    Cons

Company is very focused on ideals and innovations, while existing programs, products and systems lack support, causing a great deal of rework, overtime, and client frustration.

Senior leadership comes across as clueless. Very basic ideas are coated in thick layers of corporate jargon.

Managers use social engineering tactics to respond to complaints. This exists across departments. Misremembering, deliberate misunderstanding, vague promises, unclear explanations (even when pushed for more clarity), straw man arguments, diversionary strategies, confidence tricks, etc.

    Advice to Management

None. Company needs a cultural change.
