I have been working at Cobham full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Engineers are smart and knowledgeable.
    Management's intentions are good.
Site renovations = sign of investing $ into San Diego location.
Very few companies can do what we can do.
    9/80 big plus.

    Cons

    Management execution is subpar.
    Tribal knowledge is a problem.
    Corporate outlook appears bleak.
    Very little new business.
High turnover in the factory is negatively impacting quality.

    Advice to Management

Provide solid evidence that you are working to improve the site. Renovations are good but you also need to show that you are investing in your employees. Find a way to get new business!!!

I have been working at Cobham full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

All employees start accruing 3 weeks of PTO from day one each year. In addition they get the standard holidays plus 3 floating holidays. If you are an exempt employee, you will participate in the 9/80 schedule that provides you with 26 fridays off without having to use your PTO.

Great place to build a career!

    Cons

Due to unprecedent growth, Cobham can't hire fast enough!

    Advice to Management

Simplify all processes as much as you can!

I have been working at Cobham full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very diverse product portfolio. Good benefits. Lots of new business. Midwest work ethic. Deep product knowledge - smart people. Helped define military standard updates. Jobs around the world at various Cobham sites. Chalet at the Quad Cities air show.

    Cons

Supervisors do not always fight for you. Oversight by European execs do not allow full local control. Too much firefighting. Will work you to death if you let them. Cobham in the financial news too much. Not much for on-boarding in your functional group.

I have been working at Cobham full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Enjoy working here every day coming from some disasters before starting here so I have seen the other side of the fence. Perks are good. 9/80 schedule starting with alternate Fridays off. Good Benefits. Interesting space and defense products. They appreciate hiring and paying for seasoned workers.

    Cons

Many of old guard from former company constantly stick in mud. Probably the negative posters. (I am not a manager, just a team player). Backlog on work is difficult.

    Advice to Management

Keep the honest, frank situation going. You are doing the right things constantly improving work/life balance and perks. Risk some extra low level new grad help to get backlog caught up rather than contractors. Cross training and that teamwork will lead to the promotable leaders down the road. There's plenty of experience people to guide them. A continued desired high quality product and increased defense spending will bring the company to the next level. Then the nay sayers can choose to get on board or take a hike.

    Pros

Decent pay and benefits, dedicated employees.

    Cons

Company is hurting financially and is treading water to stay afloat. Company focused on acquisitions that have not integrated well. have had several different CEO's in the six years i've worked there. Accounting irregularities have further hurt investor confidence. Current management will sink company. Only hope for long term survival is a buyout by a defense contractor or major airline company. Hope I'm wrong!

    Pros

9/80 work schedule, 401k match and PTO days off. There is also a teamwork environment amongst the employees at this company.

    Cons

Management turnover is very high. In the past year there have been so many executives that have left so it makes leadership appear unstable.

    Advice to Management

    Less meetings regarding company performance
