    Pros

    Great Lineman teams working safely

Storm duty is "all hands on deck" until all customer issues are resolved.

    Advice to Management

    Keep the teams busy.

I have been working at Comed full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have just joined the ComEd Team and find it a refreshing atmosphere surrounded by employees who are dedicated to the spirit and direction of the company. The work surroundings are great from the management team to the locations we work in.

    Cons

I have found few negatives in the company so far, but if I had to point to one, it would be that there is still some uncertainty among the employees that the direction the company is going is positive. I assume it can be related to human nature and the difficulty we have in accepting change.

    Advice to Management

The team is doing good job in communicating to the employees, and the continued effort is doing so appears to be positive. Keep up with this seemingly impossible task, I see it working!

    Positive Outlook

    I worked at Comed full-time

    Pros

There's a strong connection within teams here. In my department, we were as close-knit as we could be, and we really enjoyed each other. Meetings were often full of laughs and camaraderie.

I'd also say it feels good to be supporting an organization that is actually doing something worthwhile in the community (keeping the lights on) and they have lots of worthwhile philanthropic programs and diversity initiatives.

    Cons

Outside of my department, there was a lot of animosity and political backstabbing. Many managers and senior leaders seem to be only taking care of themselves, not looking out for the greater good.

    Advice to Management

Shadow a meter reader or a lineman for a week, and have someone there to video tape your experiences and lessons. It would be a good experience for you, and the video would be a great thing to show the whole organization to create more sense of unity/empathy.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Comed full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Big company falls under Exelon umbrella and growth opportunities for engineers.

    Cons

No growth within organization, no appreciation of any sort and management can/could block your move to different organization. Before taking position make sure whatever is job description that is what you are going to do because job description might say finance work but you will end up creating service order (clerical work) in billing (Most of the time job posting would use generic job description not the actual).

    Advice to Management

Understand your human resource, manage your human resource, and provide opportunity to grow your resource.
