I worked at Compass Group Canada part-time

    Pros

Pay was o.k. as were scheduled hours. Seldom asked to work overtime.

    Cons

WORST working experience I have ever had. Upper management does not train lower management. Legitimate concerns not acknowledged and problems not corrected. No teamwork whatsoever. Huge disappointment and don't recommend to anyone.

    Advice to Management

See Cons and don't hire unqualified managers.

I worked at Compass Group Canada full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Some flexibility in your schedule.

    Cons

    Where to start...
    1. They act like they are doing you a favour by paying you a fair wage.
If you are successful at negotiating a fair starting salary you are reminded every opportunity they get that you are expensive. Even if you are worth it!

    2. They like cheap labour. To save costs, they hire inexperienced Directors who in turn just do not know how to be a director (becoz they have never held a senior level job) and make the organization look like a joke. You get what you pay for Compass and i guarantee you as soon as that director with no experience gets their two years inthey will move on and leave a bad stench in your client and employees spaces.

    3. They expect 1000%, and give you 30%. They want you to work like a dog for them, pay you the bare minimum, and if you draw the line you are not "bing a team player".

    4. Some managers are hell on wheels. They yell at you, embarrase you infront of your team, belittle you, basically treat you like you are replacable and then get suprised when you decide to quit.

    Advice to Management

You get what you pay for. Pay me like i am not worth the effort, and expect that i will remember every day i am there what you think of me.

Also, we are not Toronto..so stop trying to make every single thing about our services like toronto. Do market research, undrstand your demographics before you jump to assume.

I worked at Compass Group Canada full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

All policies are very well established so you know what your rights are as an employee right off the bat. No take-home work (good work/life balance). Additional training was provided in the form of courses/certifications relating to the position (e.g. Food Safe, Pro-Serve, etc.).

    Cons

Said policies sometimes invoked unnecessary processes e.g. having to provide a doctor's note after staying home one day for a migraine or any other non-contagious illness. Pay was not good, especially when total compensation package was considered (had to wait 6 months for benefits to kick in, no company perks for Starbucks, etc.). A large portion of the merchandise was overpriced, which caused an ongoing poor reputation with the client base.

    Advice to Management

The relationship with the client base would likely improve if the team wasn't so blatantly (and at times obnoxiously) focused on sales.

I worked at Compass Group Canada full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Competitive pay
    Great dental & medical coverage

    Cons

Bloated HR and programs that detracts from the actual work
    Inexperienced upper management
    Monkey branching prevalent
No performance bonuses with a 1 million net PBO account

    Advice to Management

ESS needs a new president and VP's. All it has become is a monkey branching bonus chasing daycare.

I have been working at Compass Group Canada part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I am in school so I can fix my schedule i usually do 20 hours
Free food from the caf and Timmy’s ( it’s not really free they deduct a small amount from your pay )
Calling in sick = texting your manager ( especially if you are cramming for exams)

    Cons

I am home now and not getting paid because colleges are on strike. So I am missing this week pay and next week due to reading week( sucks)
I also have to look for another job in the summer because the college is closed.

    Advice to Management

I’m leaving when I graduate so don’t really care
