I worked at Compass Group Canada full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Enjoy working with some dedicated team members. Lots of opportunity to get involved in different types of work. Enjoyed my opportunity while it lasted, but won't miss the disorganization.

    Cons

Lot of faking til you make it with upper management, giving directions without having an adequate understanding of the tools, resources, or context. This results in a trickle down effect amounting to a blame game, often obscuring what is the real issue. Creative group but organization and department efforts often lack consistent leadership, tools, or accountability to see work through.

    Advice to Management

Accountability starts at the top. Without it, the business will spend more time cleaning up after itself than actually driving growth. If a colleague continues to defer significant decisions that impact their team it may be time to revaluate priorities.

  8. "Terrible Management"

    Pros

Good step up stone or to get your foot in the door

    Cons

Picks favorites, weak against unions, managers don't deal with problems directly or just let it slip under the rug, says one thing but does another, don't be smarter than your boss.

    Advice to Management

Need to reward good employees/staff and not let the bad ones threatens you.

  9. "Need a better rate of pay...$1.00 above minimum wage. Looking after others wellfare is worth much more."

I have been working at Compass Group Canada part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I don't have any ....except its money to buy bits and pieces you cant live off of it.

    Cons

Management knows employees are under paid, but had little insight as to why. And appears it was stated its a job for those that are not as educated! Is that why they can get away with paying low wages. Not good!

    Advice to Management

Really need to work on hourly rate of pay in the big city ,high cost of travel to and from work, higher cost of living in the city. Equalized Pay would be great.

I have been working at Compass Group Canada full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for managers, polite peers, and lots of work to keep you busy. Blind loyalty to upper management helps reduce visible conflict.

    Cons

A bit of a class-based system with exec and operations held to different standards. Little focus on development, instead of on 'low hanging fruit' self-managing colleagues. The teams are often committed but remain limited by outdated technologies and resources.

    Advice to Management

If you want to act like a 'big company,' fixing the intrinsic issues that limit alignment, clarity, and internal development will be essential. The espoused beliefs do not match the company's actual abilities or commitments. Using the DiSC personality test does not strengthen the company vision, it limits its ability to understand and respond to its environment. High Performance is not achieved when only one metric is used.
