Pros

Most of my coworkers and I are described positively as “Jack of all trades, masters of none”.

Cons

Most of Contata's employees receive calls from the CEO evenings and weekends.There is also an expectation to work after leaving the office and every weekend. Unfortunately, there are no flexible working hours, no work from home days, salary is lower compared to other SaaS organizations in the Twin Cities, there are no sick days, fun or excitement in the office is not promoted, there are no floating holidays nor time off for volunteering. Current salaried employees get 10 PTO days and 6 national holidays off and free coffee and soda in the office. Micromanagement occurs often (even with senior team members), and new hires are subjected to a condescending attitude until 'proving' themselves. Contata does not increase pay per years with the organization but gives raises through counter offers once employees quit. At a cosmetic level, the office does not have task chairs, no standing desks nor natural light.

Pros

I observed none in my time at the company.

Cons

I worked for Contata for a short time. During the hiring process, which was conducted by the CEO, I was told I would be given time to come up to speed in my new position. After I started, the CEO stopped by my desk three times a day and redirected me to a totally new task and then called me at home on the weekend to do the same thing. After two weeks, he berated me for not making any progress. I left shortly thereafter. I'm used to a professional environment, and this was simply the worst experience I've had at a job, hands down. In the US, Contata is run under small business rules, and the CEO runs it like his personal fiefdom.

Pros

Contata is a fine place to stay short term while you're looking for long term employment. You'll learn a bit about multiple business processes, and you'll absolutely learn how to be completely self sufficient in your position.

Cons

Abhorrent management structure. Employees are asked to accept salaries well below industry standard for their education and expertise. Senior managers are reluctant to keep up with industry trends or advances, and so communicate in buzzwords to present the illusion of a successful company.
