I have been working at CoreCivic (More than a year)

    Pros

I truly believe that the company takes a proactive stance to help inmates become productive United States citizens. For example, I have a brother paying 5,000 Dollars to a trucking school in Ohio, yet Core Civic provides a interactive trucking school right at the Lake City Facility. I am impressed with the variety of classes that have the potential to help residents change their addictive habits. When I started here in December of 2017 the Staff said that Lake City Correctional is one BIG FAMILY. In only a short time I have felt the care and consideration that each staff has toward the other. Core Civic as a whole is a wonderful place to work.

    Cons

No work environment is perfect. Anyone could find faults if you look hard enough, but I choose help those with a negative attitude see all the positive things that their is on a day to day basis.

    Advice to Management

I appreciate all that you do on a daily basis.

I have been working at CoreCivic full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Employees and clients are easy to work with

    Cons

The schedule is inconsistent. Doesn’t pay much

    Advice to Management

    Pay employees more

I have been working at CoreCivic full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Work schedule, not micro managed.

    Cons

Deduct 10-12k for health insurance before it starts to really pay, 3k deductible 70/30, What kind of deal is this?

Management is disconnected, they don't listen and don't act upon issues that affect other workers and that creates animosity from those that have to do all the work.

Zero career path in some areas, can't turn a corner without tripping over a Sr Director. " from another dpt "

    Advice to Management

Step up and manage, and treat your employees better.

Get better insurance and at least give a cost of living increase, don't think they ever have since I have been there.

The job market is to good to take this much longer.

I have been working at CoreCivic (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Seems to still be stable - however, for how long

    Cons

Used to be a great company to work for however things have gotten worse over the last several years. Seems every time you turn around they are making changes and taking something away. No raises but everything keeps going up. Making you work like crazy but taking your paid time off away. Company used to be respected now it seems no one respects us and that lack of respect seems to be flowing down hill to the employees.

    Advice to Management

Get back to do what made us great. Stop taking stuff away to save a buck while your employees still care. I gave a 2 star rating...but not by much

I have been working at CoreCivic full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

CoreCivic has excellent health benefits and 401 K.

    Cons

Don't feel like the pay rates are right at all. We have expressed our concerns often about this but haven't seen any improvements and that's why a lot of employees especially veteran employees move on to other jobs.

    Advice to Management

Don't always look at the years of service when considering pay raises. Look at the work ethics and performance of the employees. I have been with the company since 2002 with a 1 1/2 year gap due to leaving the company. That's 14 1/2 years of active employment with the company but my pay doesn't reflect that at all and when I asked about it years of service is all I hear. I've been at Coffee Correctional for almost 4 years now and I just feel the pay doesn't reflect my experience at all.

I have been working at CoreCivic full-time

    Pros

Great company overall. Strong family team environment at facilities.

    Cons

Not enough leadership training or oversight, resulting in poor experience at lower levels due to inadequate leadership. Compensation lower than industry standard. Benefits expensive in relation to pay for entry and lower levels.

    Advice to Management

Offer more training for lower levels of management staff, offer onsite training at facilities. Offer training for up and coming lower level employees who will one day be supervisors.

I have been working at CoreCivic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Job reliability with current contracts
    -Quality Training
-Engagement committee is very active, boosting morale

    Cons

    -Mandation is out of control
    -Untrustworthy Coworkers
-Inconsistent safety and security procedures between shifts

    Advice to Management

Gain control of the lack of staff by overhiring slightly. Staff are getting burnt out with the amount of mandation we've been dealing with the last year.
