    Pros

    - management trusts staff to be active in decision-making about business
    - fun environment, other staff members are nice
    - great place to grow and improve if you prove yourself to be smart and hardworking

    Cons

Not a con, but this is a company that works hard to grow its business and provide for its employees...if you're looking for a place where you can just skate by or be coddled by management, then this isn't the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep trusting the employees who want to succeed and weed out those who don't care.

    Pros

    No pros with this company.

    Cons

Several years ago this company seemed to have a pretty good reputation and was a great place to work. Many former employees had good, meaningful friend/family relationships. They were the ones that built your company, made your money, helped establish and grow your business connections. WELL CONGRATULATIONS CSW!!! You've done a bang up job destroying what could have been a major success for everyone. You've walked on the backs of your best employees, you've made them feel like ciminals, made them feel worthless, you've paid them pennies to line YOUR pockets. Well obviously living your champagne dreamlife on your beer budget hasn't work out so well has it? You are nothing more than belly crawling liars. It would really be a good idea to have a team meeting to get your lies straight before telling them. Word on the streets? Don't do business with CSW, they can't pay their bills. Isn't "social media" a wonderful thing? So many ways...

    Advice to Management

Close your doors...You've used and hurt enough people.

    Pros

There isn't anything that this company can offer than cannot be easily matched or out done by another company.

    Cons

    - No medical benefits.
    - No vacation.
    - No clear management guidance.
    - Unsafe work floor environments... Saw guards are not used regularly, management tasks people to do unsafe duties which are not practiced in any other wood shop environment.
    - Conducts unsound financial practices that do no promote long term growth.. (i.e. this company runs its employees with 10-20 hours of overtime A WEEK with no justification and little regard to company financial health.)
    - The manufacturing floor is often cluttered, dirty and unsafe for regular foot traffic. It is one OSHA inspection away from being shut down.
    - This shop requires you work the floor using your own tools without compensation... they do NOT specifically tell you that in the interview.
    - No employee handbook or company conduct guidelines for new employees.
    - No profit sharing (if asked about, management will swear they are working on this, but after 7 years of working on it, it still hasn't happen.)
    - The shop floor is not run by management, it is run by shop floor workers who clearly have no manufacturing or management experience. This makes the company seem more like Peyton Place then a place to get work done.
    - The quality control system in place here serves only to chastise those who work here. It only serves as a point to be fired over. This method of QC does not actually change the quality of the process but only make quality harder to achieve.

    Advice to Management

Hire people using standard business practices.. such as a background check and drug screen. You currently hire who ever walks thru the door with no screening what so ever.. this attracts low skilled workers who often cause more problems then they solve, resulting in them getting fired and wasting time of both the company and the new worker.

Additionally, I would stop lying to people about what you are looking for in workers. I specifically spelled out my skillset as a high level production worker only to be switched to a low level shop laborer. I was promised a raise after I bought my own tools, .. it did not happen. I was promised a raise after 90 days.. it did not happen.

    Pros

Vice President is a great guy. Fair, intelligent, honest and straightforward. He knows his job very well. They use excellent in house developed software. Good final product.

    Cons

The president is a poor manager of people. He shows little respect for the employees. He reacts with anger rather than leads. He is not proactive in leading and is quick to blame others when things don't go the way he wants.

    Advice to Management

    Demmings obligations of top management:
#8 Drive out fear and build trust
#12 Remove barriers that rob people of joy in their work
    Deming axiom #6
Create a secure environment so everyone can apply the first 5 axioms without fear. Offer support, reassurance, and appreciation.

    Pros

Great place to work, have never been treated more fairly. Very competitive, this place is not for those looking to retire!

But if you want to grow with a growing firm, you won't find a better place.

    Cons

    Parking is far from building

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and keep firing those who want to skate.

    Pros

Great people to work with and very friendly atmosphere with good moral . Beautiful finished product comes out of this shop. The senior management pays employees well if you show you are deserving of it.

    Cons

There are a couple of cons, but they have good reasons behind them. Long hours and working on the weekends when the company is busy, but it looks good on payday. Rush, rush, rush, but it keeps the companies head above water, helps us get jobs, and keeps everyone working and out of the unemployment line

    Advice to Management

Be better scheduled with jobs and engineering to save the company money on overtime

    Pros

Lots of overtime due to mismanagement of staff, diversity of projects, they hire people of all backgrounds (because they go through employees like a barracuda through a school of fish)

    Cons

Lack of "real" employee safety practices, lack of accountability in management of employees, constant turnover due to knee-jerk reactions of management, constant use of materials from other jobs because materials not ordered or misappropriated, verbal abusiveness towards employees, lack of sanitary facilities, lack of adequate first aid products for employee accidents, lack of adequate training for machinery operation, lack of accountability of employee conduct while on premises and on the clock...need I type more?

    Advice to Management

Hire someone that seriously understands how to supervise, mentor, promote effective management, get rid of the nepotism and holier-than-thou attitudes rampant there, and treat employees as they should be...not as a disposable resource...

    Cons

The owner doesn't treat anyone with courtesy or respect. You always feel like you're on egg shells around him.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

I always have the ability to learn more skills and take on new projects. I never become bored or have to wait for the day to drag by. Each employee has the ability to give ideas to upper management about how to improve processes. Every employee is courteous and has a smile for you. The clients, vendors, and general contractors are happy to work with CSW, and you can see and hear it in their e-mails/phone calls.

    Cons

The temperature is kept pretty low and it gets cold.

    Advice to Management

Upper management hopefully can take the time for vacations - they work too hard. Hire additional managers to take on some of the work load.
