I worked at Daegis (Less than a year)

    Pros

Small technology company with excellent diverse staff , products & benefits.

    Cons

This small software company had excellent products and was acquired by a very large Canadian technology company which led to many layoffs in our corporate & worldwide locations.

I worked at Daegis (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Wonderful customers, employees and products made it great place to work and was what kept me plugging away through the good and bad times.

    Cons

Management's constantly shifting priorities made it very difficult to stay focused. Being acquired by Open Text was needed to keep us there for the customers.

    Advice to Management

Need to understand the essential relationship between the customers and the crew supporting the product and provide tools and resources needed to continually build that relationship.

I worked at Daegis (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule for the most part with a health work life balance. Not a lot of micromanagement for the most part.

    Cons

Unfortunately, the company continued to trend in the wrong direction for many years, that eventually led to a forced fire sale for pennies on the dollar.

    Advice to Management

None much to give. This company is no longer in existence after it was acquired by a much larger company.

I have been working at Daegis full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Honestly, I'm writing this review because I saw all the negative ones and I must say I do not echo their sentiments. I've been working for Daegis for about a year and have really enjoyed my time here. We are a small, growing company so there is a lot of work to be done. The senior leadership team is very strong and has us all moving in the right direction.

    Cons

I read another review that says the office looks like a call center. Yes, it could use some sprucing up but the break room is bright and the 15th floor views are nice.

    Advice to Management

Have more of us fill out Glassdoor reviews. I was shocked when a friend told me he looked up Daegis and saw all of the negative reviews.

I worked at Daegis (More than a year)

    Pros

Ability to stretch your legs by working ad hoc with other departments.

    Cons

No focus. There is the appearance to be in a constant state of flux.

I worked at Daegis full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Worked here for 9yrs. Cheap pay for employees, but morale was good when it was a private company. Still cheap pay, lost bonus plan, and no morale after it was bought out by another company. They dropped a lot of talented employees and kept very few special ones when moving operations. If you choose not to learn you stay stagnant, if you work hard to learn new things then potential for growth is there - but you must take a lot of initiative on your own to grow. Management changes a lot and the structure didn't seem stable. There are very good managers but it depends which department.

    Cons

Very low morale - everybody dreads going into work. A lot of great talent was lost and the ones they kept around worked twice as hard to fill in the gaps with no raise or bonus or any kind of incentive. management should focus on customers and product and not just product. You can have a decent product but it's nothing is there are barely any clients using it.

    Advice to Management

New management - take care of your employees.

I worked at Daegis full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. Everyone works hard and parties hard.

    Cons

After the merger, upper management does not know what to do at all. They fired all the sales guys and then complained that there's no work for the rest of the employee.

    Advice to Management

Don't take over a company that you don't know how to run.

I have been working at Daegis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Only Pro was that Company was located in the San Francisco City.
    Discounted movie tickets

    Cons

Upper Management decided to close the San Francisco and New York office and gave 25 days notice to all employees to find new Job because the company could not pay the rent in City.
They could have moved to a small office around the city but guess company had better plans for in Texas.
No Motivation in the company. People come to office late and leave early and nobody cares.
Worst of all no Coffee machine. You can buy coffee downstairs.
No Employee can plan a long term committed role at the company.
Technology used in development is outdated and 2-3 years behind the current trend in the bay area.
Please stay away if you are planning for something long-term

    Advice to Management

Management keeps changing all the time. Please plan the financials better to locations can be kept open for a long time.

    Star Star Star Star Star
Former Employee - Manager in San Francisco, CA
Former Employee - Manager in San Francisco, CA

I worked at Daegis full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people that actually execute on behalf of the clients are great. Talented folks that work long hours, often time with minimal upside.

    Cons

Sales staff would do better selling used cars.

    Advice to Management

Hold sales accountable, why are people who constantly miss quotas not only kept on staff, but promoted?
