I worked at Denver Rescue Mission (More than a year)

    Pros

The rescue mission helps those in need in the name of Christ, which is a great reason to serve an organization like this in your life. There are also bonus for working with Denver Rescue Mission, such as white water rafting and hiking 14'ers in Denver.

    Cons

If you do not have a great passion for serving those in need in the name of Jesus Christ, then the rescue mission will not be a fit for you.

I have been working at Denver Rescue Mission full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I love what I do. My department works as a team. Direct management is very supportive. I believe in DRMs mission. Executive management is very approachable.

    Cons

Salary is low, but I understand it too. However, the benefits are really good. But I think it contributes to high turnover rate.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the great work. I have not seen anything that reflects racism or poor conduct as some of the other reviewers have commented.

I worked at Denver Rescue Mission full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working with folks that realy benefit from the services offered.

    Cons

The strong racial undertone and lack of diversity. The management has always been dominated by a homogeneous group of white males. Blacks are relegated to mid level or lower level roles.

    Advice to Management

Be like Jesus in reality and see people the way God created them. Give people that are prepared, but don't look like you a chance.

I have been working at Denver Rescue Mission full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people that actually work here to make a difference (ultimately they end up disillusioned)

    Cons

Everything. This place has a horrible culture of people that are so much more concerned with their own well-being that they make jokes (company-wide) about the people they assist. I've seen emails passed around that poke fun at some of these situations. Understandably, they are a "Christian" organization, but they are so far to the left that its impossible to believe they actually care. People in the rehabilitation programs are used as free labor, and numbers are miscalculated on their annual reports, misrepresenting their Gift In Kind hours from volunteers. Upper management is full of people that have never been anywhere near the situations of their clients, and everyone has a "holier than thou" attitude.

    Advice to Management

Resign and let some individuals that really care take over.
