I have been working at DesertMicro full-time for less than a year

    Pros

My coworkers are some incredibly brilliant people! I am surrounded by innovation and teamwork. I am relatively new to the company, but I have been warmly welcomed. My training has been exceptionally thorough and I feel that my opinions really matter.

    Cons

The office is beautiful and very modern, but a little too cold for my taste.

I have been working at DesertMicro full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I can't think of any at all, worse experience of my life.

    Cons

Bad product, the worse CEO and CFO in the planet. Loves to make promises, and will never deliver. If you are into S & M this is the place for you. If you have any self respect you would never work here. All the bad reviews are true. All the positive reviews are keyed in by management.

    Advice to Management

I worked at DesertMicro full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great people to worth with. Pay and benefits are good. Good room to expand for someone with a passion for technology.

    Cons

Little communication between departments. Development staff typically consists of temp workers . The only permanent developer is several thousand miles away that you can never communicate with. Makes understanding and escalating development bug/fix issues painful and extremely time consuming. Management tends to set goals that are difficult for some to attain

    Advice to Management

Hire more permanent, compotent development staff

    I worked at DesertMicro full-time

    Pros

I did value the friends I made with other employees I worked with who also could not wait to get out

    Cons

Leadership/Management/Owner - Neither Barry Grahek or his COO puppet are people you want to work for if you want to be valued as an employee. He constantly berates employees, literally screaming at them while demanding hours of additional work past the 40 hours. The software we sold and maintained does not work and clients were constantly upset. And the endless stream of employees being hired, fired, quitting, etc......

    Advice to Management

Sell the company to someone who actually cares about their clients and employees. Barry will get his money which is all he cares about and the employees will finally have a nice place to work.

    Pros

    It's a job or whatever

    Cons

Unorganized, no direction, the blind leading the blind. It's really a sad situation.

I have been working at DesertMicro full-time

    Pros

I have been with this company for just a few months, but am planning on staying with the company for the long-term. I mostly enjoy the open-door policy and high-touch communication of the company. Employees thoughts are listened to and considered, and management is friendly, willing to help, and understanding. It's like a big family here, and I love knowing that I am cared about at work, and that my opinion matters. It's...

I have been working at DesertMicro full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I was initially drawn to this companies competitive compensation plan, and am glad that I took the opportunity to grow in my position. Management gives you a good base, and it's up to you to work for the rest. They work hard to create a team where current employees are the people who really want it, and will do what it takes, which works for me. Great coworkers, overall good working atmosphere.

    Cons

There is a lot going on and everyone is very busy. You personally have to stay really organized and things can change quickly.

    I worked at DesertMicro full-time

    Pros

My only pro i can list, is if you are looking for a start in the IT world, a start in SQL, you can get that here and be moderately successful. I started with limited SQL knowledge and left with enough to work for a great company using the skills i learned at DM. When i left they did have a very nice (though I am unsure of how legal it was) bonus system where any bonuses under $1000 would be paid in cash monthly. I...

    Cons

You will be expected to work long hours with no extra pay as you will be listed an an exempt employee. You may potentially asked last minute to fly across country to support software and hardware that was sold with no actual intention of it ever working. They will wait for a major holiday or death in the family to fire you, because Barry finds this funny. You WILL have very short deadlines on an enormous work...

    Advice to Management

I write all this not to bash this company, I actually do not regret my time there. I think this company has HUGE potential. You guys have been around for a while but you still seem to hover around the same level, Hire some competent managers, value your good employees, start up a QA team. I write this in hopes that maybe a bit of self reflection would do this company good. Barry, You gave me and many of your employees...

    I worked at DesertMicro

    Pros

in the great scheme of things there is nothing positive to say.

    Cons

If you would like to have a psycho boss to work for, Barry is your guy. He is a Borderline personality disorder, a disorder that features high agression and highly unstable relationhips.

    Advice to Management

Retire. It will be a better world.
