I worked at Diamond Comic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Had a great time working with dorky things. Got to travel to conventions and trade shows. Got to work with some large companies and help them make money. Got a lot of free stuff. And the company will do fun things together sometimes.

    Cons

the commission could have been better

I worked at Diamond Comic full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great discount, and you get tons of free stuff. Products are very interesting and fun!

    Cons

Never ending problems with the warehouses, especially Olive Branch.
You will battle backorders. Every Tuesday and Wednesday is a nightmare! Very high volumes of accounts calling/emailing their shortages and damages. Marvel is a nightmare to work with. They require crazy requirements to get books, and customers get very upset/angry about it.
Hard to move up in company unless you’re a favorite.

    Advice to Management

Find the best employees possible for Olive Branch. Otherwise that warehouse will never change. Tell Marvel to hire a customer service team to handle questions regarding variant qualifiers, a hotline even. Too many of your own workers are stressed out about this Publisher’s products. Ditch the weight reports, or at least cut the shortages and do the report later. You don’t trust your accounts, yet you are the ones shorting them on a weekly basis. That’s terrible!
My final advice is to treat your CS employees better. You give the reps way too much work! It’s overwhelming and extremely stressful at times, even for a seasoned employee. Way too many people come and go. Something big needs to change in your CS dept, possibly management.

I worked at Diamond Comic (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free comics. Hour long lunch. Some downtime. There's a 20 word minimum on pros and I honestly cannot think of anything else good to say about working here. That should tell you all you need to know.

    Cons

Too much to get done in a small time frame. Low pay. Not worth the stress. Training was fine until you're on your own. Felt like management talks down to you when you continue to ask questions or make mistakes. Can't use discount until after probationary period if you can survive that long. 4 people quit within a month. Also not a whole lot of vacation time. Wednesday's are the craziest and busiest days and of course those are they days they pile on projects to have you complete as well. Like I said too much stress not worth it!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Don't give one person the workload of two at such little pay.

I have been working at Diamond Comic full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Set hours Monday-Friday, with some holidays off. Co-workers are great and you get to develop some nice relationships with some of your nicer accounts. Plus access to free comics and product from time to time.

    Cons

It can get pretty demoralizing whether your dealing with an irate account or problems from our distribution warehouse messing up shipments which seem to be on a weekly basis. The company seems disorganized and it seems like they focus on more short term solutions rather than long term solutions.

    Advice to Management

It feels like management treats their employees as if they are expendable and there doesn't seem to be that good of a support system other than the team leaders and co workers in the department. If you make a mistake management looks to focus more on what you did wrong with little to no help on how to fix the problem. The job is stressful enough when you're dealing with angry accounts, but it's worse when you feel like any little mistake you make could lead to a write up or termination.
