I worked at Duke Manufacturing (More than a year)

    Pros

The employees were a lot of fun to work with as long as you weren't acting dumb and you did your job correctly

    Cons

There isn't much room to grow, engineering basically only has two levels at the Sedalia plant. You feel stuck in your position.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the hard workers, make sure they know you appreciate them

I have been working at Duke Manufacturing full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

great benefits, hours good, ot opportunity.

    Cons

upper management and production management not communicating, late shipments due to overload of production. Customers being put off , employees multi-tasking at a faster pace leads to poor product being produced. Sense of TEAM being lost....

    Advice to Management

communication to those who know how to get the job done so our customers don't have to wait. If management doesn't know how to build the product, how can they schedule a job or jobs to meet due dates! Communicate with those who build the product...

    Pros

Great atmosphere, great working conditions, the culture makes you feel like you've been here your whole life. The people are what make it great

    Cons

Communication, it shouldn't be that hard but sometimes it is the biggest struggle. It can become very frustrating. I suppose you should take the good with the bad

    Pros

Good product line for the industry, good reputation with customers in terms of performance and delivery of equipment along with service

    Cons

Some office and lab space subpar and uncomfortable; family gets preferential treatment; too much discord between departments

    Pros

I liked the versatility that you have an opportunity to train on different jobs and sometimes move into different departments when people are absent. I also like the job bidding process to move to a different department. Its a fair process.

    Cons

The challenges at this company I visually saw where people not working together for a common ground of the same interest to get a job done. i think that falls under individuality. No 401K

I worked at Duke Manufacturing full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Overall good people both on the floor and in limited management positions. The owner always had a positive outlook and goes out of his way to make people welcome.

    Cons

Middle management is terrible. Everybody and their brother is a vice-president. Many middle managers have their own little kingdoms and God forbid you disagree with them. Far too much bureaucracy for a smaller company. Getting a simple project done could take upwards of a year (if you're lucky). Projects are ill-defined at the start many times and requirements change constantly. There did not seem to be much forward planning, projects were typically in response to something the competitor already had in the market. Vacation benefits were terrible.

I worked at Duke Manufacturing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Staff within the department really good, communications decent, holidays good for time off in observance of national holidays.

    Cons

One sided upper management, doesn't take time to listen to employees opinions or ways to improve.
