Lack of Support from Upper Management - Technical Recruiter Adaptive Solutions Group Employee Review

Pros

The recruiting managers were top tier. I felt fully supported by them and they were both experts at recruiting.

Cons

Upper management felt very separate from the rest of the company. I can admit my weaknesses, and I was let go because I was not meeting my sales goals. I know now and can recognize that sales is not my strongest skill. However, as a new college grad with zero sales experience going into it, I felt that I was not supported and encouraged to grow as a salesperson or given any tools to improve. I was simply told I wasn't meeting my goals and I needed to work more, harder, and longer to catch up. There is VERY much a culture of "If you want to do well in this business, you're going to have to get used to working well over 40 hours a week." I was also very much thrown off by the lack of diversity in the company. When I left, there was not one employee that was not white.

Pros

Company culture around your peers is great. Office environment and collaboration/teamwork with fellow recruiters and account managers is engaging and rewarding. When things are rolling, the job can be fun, and the compensation can ramp up quick (but there is a ceiling).

Cons

Small company that has "closed door" conversations nearly every day, most of the time talking about fellow employees that are in the office. The office politics and company favorites are obvious, and management doesn't treat everyone the same, especially if your numbers are even slightly below the everchanging goal. The micromanagement on the recruiting side can get out of control even if your numbers are fine, and Account Managers have way more overall flexibility and minimal micromanagement compared to recruiters which (at times) causes a rift between recruiters and AMs. Management tends to change things just because and the benchmarks are a moving target. If you don't do all of the thing's management asks of you then they ramp up the micromanagement to a frustrating point. The recruiter expectations are to juggle multiple goals at once and if you fall short on one then that is the focus, not the ones you exceeded expectations on.
