Pros

I did enjoy collaborating with various people across the business.

Cons

While there I was made to feel like my approach to problem solving was incorrect, although I had more experience and success in this field than anyone else there. I was constantly made to try and think more like how my manager would and less like how I've always successfully approached things before. My results were not questioned, but my thought process was. I raised this twice during my time there as a concern. Managers are supposed to be flexible to account for diverse approaches from their staff, not to try and hammer everyone into little clones of themselves because they don't have the experience to manage someone different. Twice I raised in official feedback that I didn't think Ageas knew how to deal with neurodiverse employees and twice they decided not to do anything about it. Ageas claims it takes its diversity seriously but from my time there this is limited to the call centre and lower end roles, while diversity in the main white collar office roles was non existent. Not even visible diversity (it was a very white office) let alone neurodiversity which just isn't on their radar. What really brought this clear discrimination home was a few years later when I applied for a new role which looked exciting and a good fit for me. Clearly qualified, I would have thought the good feedback I received for my work the first time around would have at least got me an interview. Rejected. They advertise again. Rejected. They advertise again. Rejected within minutes. So not even assessed, just a kneejerk "no". Again, I'm qualified for this role. I have 25 years experience doing every part of UX. There can't be that many people locally who were sending in better CVs. Even nationally they can't be getting such good applicants that I can't even get an interview. They clearly just don't want the weird autistic guy back even though they always said his work was good and he never did or said anything to deserve that level of dislike. Then...their HR contacts me, out of the blue tells me I'm a perfect fit for this role that they're advertising AGAIN. Then upon confirming my interest, they change their mind. So HR was right, I am a fit, they then contacted the hiring manager who apparently hates autistic people and there follows another immediate rejection. So I complain to HR. And then finally I was offered an interview, but told I won't get it. So I was basically offered a sham interview with hostile interviewers who've already decided they don't want the autistic guy back. Messed up, right? Finally I contacted HR again with my concerns that they were discriminating against autistic people in recruitment, and they said they take my accusation very seriously and would investigate properly and let me know the real reasons why they're pretending I'm not good enough to ever work there again. No I'm sorry, that's a lie, their HR Director basically parroted the company line that I'm just not qualified and told me to go away. If you're neurotypical I have no doubt you'd get an interview if qualified and have a lovely time there, but if you're not, I'd highly recommend you avoid.
