Pros
I've been incredibly happy since joining AppNexus. Some reasons: -At the forefront of its industry -Strong commitment to technology, product and engineering focus -Senior management isn't walled off, on the contrary it's easy to involve them in what you're working on. We use Slack to communicate across the company from the C-level down, which really helps break down barriers. -Fun but serious working environment -Colleagues are friendly, approachable, interesting, and highly impressive -Everyone is committed to teaching you things, and expects you to teach others in return -Strong mobility between teams and offices; expectation that everyone will change roles frequently -We do things for the right reasons and not because of office politics -Openness to trying new things
Cons
-Product and engineering groups are shorthanded in relation to the amount of work they have, creating product gaps -Things change all the time, and you really have to work hard to keep your knowledge current -Teams based in NYC headquarters sometimes forget about the rest of the world (scheduling meetings at inconvenient times or locations, leaving folks off invitation lists, etc.) although we're getting better on this point
