Avant was a major disappointment in the end. After a lot of promise and no return, I became a victim of the recent layoffs in August. What started as a promising step in my career turned into typical churn and burn after a year. I saw this in noting almost all of the people I met at the beginning of my time with the company left during the summer of the first year of the pandemic. This trend continued throughout my time with the company, whether at the corps or ops level. So don't expect to see the same faces for long. Most people won't be around in a year because they can do better. On top of the consistent turnover, bad management and middle-management plague Avant's upper echelons. From inconsistent priorities , lack of vision, and too much ambition. Your job may always be at risk even if someone assures you. This company is shooting for the stars and it will leave you behind to get there. The inconsistent priorities are obvious from the get go, whether on the Jira board or encountering them in a meeting. You'll often get orders which contradict what you're doing and throw you off. I ran into this at all levels of upper management. Everyone want's things certain way, but shouldn't get it. As for the lack of vision, I can say in good faith my manager didn't really know what to do with me some days. This could be for a multitude of reasons, but no matter how often my direct superior and I spoke. We never found much common ground and what I had done was irrelevant since my manager had already forgotten what they'd first asked me and then come ready with more orders inconsistent with the previous asks. The company this year really aimed to grow and went too big and had to shutter what some were going to work on. My advice is lose the startup mindset and be more careful with your money so you don't cost people jobs.
