Hierarchical and not technology-focused - Software Engineer BBC Employee Review

Very hierarchical management structure. Often you're told what needs to be done and there's zero interaction with the people who want a feature. Work is often not interesting, sometimes going through mind-numbing periods of repetitive tasks. Laptops are pre-loaded with very old software for emails, etc. Very slow career progression. On paper, the culture promotes collaboration and trust, but in practice every team seems distrustful of others and works mostly in isolation.
