Pros

35-hour work week. You can work a little longer each day and take every second Monday or Friday off.

Cons

1. We have run out of parking, and the building is not close to a skytrain. There is a shuttle to the skytrain if you're willing to deal. 2. We've hired more people and therefore run out of desks. So what happened in the IS department is that they took away everyone's nice big cubicles and replaced them with little desks in open space. It's very loud, and it feels like you're sitting in a cafeteria table in rows. People were getting eye strain and arm pain because the desks were too shallow, making the monitors too close to your face. 3. Morale is very low in the IS department, and lots of talented developers have left. 4. IT salary is a bit low for today's market rate in Vancouver (but then you only work 35 hours instead of 40).

Thank you for recognizing that we provide work life flexibility options for our people. We have partnered with our neighboring organizations to expand our parking, allowing us to be one of the few companies that still provides free parking to our regular team members. We also offer a free shuttle service to the sky train station, and there’s a bus stop right outside of our building. At BCAA we take ergonomics very seriously as it is an integral part of our overall Health and Wellness program. We have a full ergonomic program and information available to BCAA employees to proactively address any ergonomic concerns on our intranet. We appreciate your feedback and will also pass it along to our leaders.
