Pros

It's a on-going contract gig which some folks like. They do offer a full suite of benefits which is nice and can be hard to find contracting.

Cons

Ridiculously low salary. The only way they can get away with it is the poor job market. When I mentioned to the recruiter that the hourly rate was roughly half of what an experience engineer makes where I live, she just scoffed and said if I "lived in a bigger city they would pay more". The people I work with are pretty jaded due to the company I am contracted to. They are all former employees who were picked up when they were laid off from other parts of the company. They don't really know the stack we work on, though, which makes them fearful to change anything. Everything it slow rolled in an effort to maintain the contracting gig, and there is no incentive to make the product better. It feels like I am working in a Dilbert cartoon most days.
