Cons
Unless you’re hiring on with a director title or above, you will be treated as expendable and worthless. Higher ups are terrifyingly cavalier about firing people. Please do not lie to yourself like I did and think it will be different for you. Employees with advanced degrees and experience from top-tier companies work daily under the constant threat of being fired. The only “safe” employees are those brought in by their family and friends. They also happen to be the only employees receiving promotions. It is very painful, working for someone who has no clue what they are doing, yet believes they are smarter and better than any of their SME associates, and constantly implies the threat of job loss. I truly regret taking this job. I am out the millisecond I land another job with comparable pay. It’s harder leaving with under a years’ worth of time, so I’m just grinning and bearing it until then. A lot of us are. My story is not unique. My situation is not unique. I hear this exact same thing from colleagues in other departments.
