Pros

Parking is good considering the fact that the company pays 1/2 of parking. Benefits are OK. I left the company and wound up with better benefits. Business and Development works extra hard and extra long hours trying to keep people employed and this group really cares about trying to bring in business. There are some very good, strong project managers, very few, but a couple of them that are still there add significant value to the company. The majority of the people are good and kind and there have been some very talented people that have passed through the halls of the company.

Cons

HR (and before the Chief Culture and Talent Officer responds, he is a big part of the problem) They don't value employees and can't recognize talent. You are made to feel as if you add no value to the company and no one really cares if you stay or go, yet while you are there you are overworked for paychecks below industry standard and they find ways to let you know you are not worth more than what they are paying you. I have heard with my own ears employee abuse. I have heard comments against other employees (some from the leader of HR) that were very inappropriate. The CEO is blind to all that goes on because he is too busy painting rosy pictures instead of leveling with employees and telling the honest truth, even if asked directly for the truth.

Social media sites like Glassdoor are phenomenal in that they provide direct access to information never before available. It’s unfortunate; however, that the anonymity of these sites enables people to portray inaccurate information as fact. With regard to this post, the person is absolutely correct that our BD team works hard and cares deeply about growing the company, but it is not just BD. Every other team at Carney works just as hard and cares just as much. As for the HR Team, we focus everyday on making Carney a great place for people to work. We always accept feedback and input on how to do this better. Anyone is free to reach me with questions and feedback at allen.price@teamcarney.com. All that said, we apparently did not meet this person’s expectations and are very sorry they had an unfavorable experience during their time at Carney. We take very seriously our commitment to value, to grow, and to recognize and reward employees at Carney. We will continue to improve all aspects of how we operate and continue growing the business so we can offer our employees more and more opportunities, which we have done in 2014. As for pay, our goal is to pay what the market requires and we believe we do that consistently. There will always be jobs where people can go make more money, but our goal is to provide a complete package that makes Carney a great place to work. The work environment is not abusive and that is something we do not tolerate. We have many channels to report abuse, including a 24x7 anonymous, third-party hotline. When corrective action is necessary, it is taken swiftly and done in a way to ensure there is never any retaliation against someone who raised a concern. We are a very transparent, up front organization – more so than many companies. We have a weekly all hands meeting where we provide information and employees can ask questions, there are team meetings to further relay information, and several internal systems to further enable effective, transparent communication of information. Lastly, 2014 is another successful year for Carney and we can attribute this success to our incredible employees – so a huge kudos to the team for the remarkable work they do on behalf of our clients that lead to this success. 2015 will be another successful year because of our employees. If you are a self-driven, energetic, and positive-oriented person, then please check out our current and future open positions as we continue to look for high performers to join some of the smartest, talented people around.

Pros

I was at Carney for a while, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best places I’ve worked. The leadership team genuinely cares about employees, and there’s a real sense of collaboration here. The culture is supportive, and work-life balance is respected. There’s a strong emphasis on quality, but without micromanagement. If you’re self-motivated and enjoy working on interesting projects with smart, driven people, this is the place to be. Like any company, there are challenges, but leadership is always open to feedback and actively works to make things better. Overall, a great company with great people!

Cons

Not necessarily cons for Carney, but they are a federal contractor which means we have to deal with federal people who sometimes are difficult. My work was remote which I like, but means I only got to see people on Teams or when there are socials every few months. As a small company, they don't have as many formal processes that I was used to from larger organizations.

Pros

Flexibile work schedule, no micromanagement and you are encouraged to do your job, some remote opportunities, good healthcare plan options, internal company leave donation program.

Cons

Limited opportunity for upward mobility or growth, a slow-growing PTO system when first starting with the company, with no room to negotiate.
