- Very political in nature - There is definitely an inner circle of specific people in management and those who have been here a few years. Unless you have their buy-in and support it will be very difficult to do you job. - High Performance is the expectation. Going above and beyond will just get you an average score on your performance review. These reviews drive bonuses, promotions and salary raises. Often the highest performers do work extremely hard, but they also have the buy-in of the inner circle. -Not very transparent as much as they try sell it. Managers often can’t share why certain decision have been made. When I was recruited I was told there was almost no attrition, well in actuality I’ve seen a few people leave every month. Even my recruiter left less than a year after I joined. Only very few business critical roles have insights on metrics and access to data. My main advice for those considering CKO is just know what you’re getting yourself into. You do need to play your cards correctly and approach with caution. It’s not a place I would recommend to stay your whole career but it can be a good stepping stone.
