Pros

HPE is a strong company with a positive work environment, competitive positioning, and compelling technology. It benefits from a well-established brand, offers excellent benefits, and generally compensates employees well, including adjustments that help keep pace with cost-of-living increases.

Cons

One aspect of the culture that stands out is the recurring concern around workforce reductions. The company has a pattern of periodic layoffs—often occurring once or twice per year—which can create a persistent sense of uncertainty. In some cases, this is tied to cycles of hiring followed by restructuring, resulting in the departure of highly capable and talented individuals. During these periods, HR does make efforts to support affected employees by facilitating internal mobility, but the responsibility largely falls on individuals to identify and secure alternative roles within the organization. At the leadership and executive levels, there is more continuity, with many long-tenured employees who have advanced internally. For much of the broader workforce, however, tenure can be influenced by these recurring cycles, with employees often staying as long as circumstances allow before being impacted by organizational changes. So if you are hired, build your community beyond your business unit, as a layoff season might hit your position, allowing you to hop quickly.
