Pros

This company has very nice benefits and also has a matching 401K plan that is hard to beat in this location. If you have no problem with attendance this job may suit you well. I started at a lower than many factories' wages, however, in your first 3 years as a full time employee, you receive bi-yearly .45 standard raises. Cook also practices in profit sharing and occasional bonus programming. Overtime is more than available in a few departments, which may help compensate for the lower than competitive base pay.

Cons

As with any organization, factories tend to have a level of politics and interpersonal relations issues. Cook struggles with maintaining a positive environment. Management, in particular, seems to micromanage. This may be due to lack of positive employee initiative. Positive reinforcement is underutilized hindering work ethics and overall employee morale. Opportunities for advancement seem to be left to chance or "people you know" philosophy. Many employees may go 15 years before offered a promotion. However, a Bachelors degree may expedite advancement after 1 year of full-time employment. As of now, they are hiring using an employment agency, and as long as you are a decent worker and don't have a problem with attendance, they usually hire within a few months. Again, attendance is their main concern, and their policy is somewhat strict.

Time spent is more important for promotions than contribution.
