Pros

-Like the title says: the company has an amazing working atmosphere. Working in an open-plan kind of office really helps to bring people together. -Really strong set of values which the management tries to pass on to their employees. -Socially speaking, no one is above anyone else. Everyone gets treated the same way and the manner in which you talk to the CEO is exactly the same in which you talk to an intern. -Opportunity to work on very different projects. From railways to online fashion retailers. -Management listens. You are encouraged to talk to them and speak your mind. -You can make your own schedule (as long as it doesn't conflict with your team or your meetings). Want to start working at 4pm and leave at midnight? You're free to do so. -Results matter more than spending 8-9h in the office. -Generally speaking, everyone is extremely friendly and is always available to give you a helping hand.

Cons

-The salary is almost offensive in some cases - it's extremely low. This overshadows many of the Pros written above. -Compensation and benefits exist but they aren't that great. -Some egos in the senior management area are really though to deal and not only it affects the employees but also the company as a whole.

Pros

Great environment, projects that make a difference to the world (no call centre crappy software being developed here): trains, planes, aerospace, space, banking, smart meters, etc.. Parts of Exomars SW were made here. Same for Solar Orbiter and 20+ space missions. This is about changing the world, for the better, while staying in Portugal (or UK, or Germany, or anywhere that suits you - remote is the new norm). Human resources are valued. Several process improvement initiatives are NOT related to the core technical standards and/or technologies but to People and sustainability (Investors in People, B-Corps). One of the few CMMI-L5 companies in the world (~1000), which rates the capability maturity level of the organization.

Cons

Got to know what is involved in working for safety-critical projects and domains. Not a company developing pretty much simple web software. Coding is only one of the many tasks to be performed before release. If you don't care about quality (doing things right, processes and doing the right thing and your business is the salary at the end of the month), go somewhere else.
