Pros
Reasonably sincere about their commitment to employee safety and protection of the environment. Middle-of-the-pack compensation, benefits and policies. Many opportunities for personal knowledge growth through hands-on experiences, but you'll likely have to make it happen on your own. A lot of good people at the operations level.
Cons
Difficult to advance as organization is pretty flat. Constantly re-organizing with little perceived improvement in outcomes. A lot of effort expended that seems to go nowhere. Cytec espouses the "Pareto principle" but routinely abuses it; they want 110% of the benefit from 20% of the effort. Company culture is shifting from one that valued loyalty and encouraged speaking truth to power to a "GE / Jack Welch" philosophy. If you're not one of the chosen ones, who seem to be worthless "bobble-heads", you will be frustrated. They seem to be shedding the seasoned professionals in favor of younger, less experienced, cheaper personnel.
