Cons
My development needed to be "put on the back burner" - a direct quote from the mouth of a district manager. Initially I absolutely loved the company, but the feeling soon faded as a district manager neglected to help any staff improve, including myself. After a full year of professionally expressing my desire to excel and learn, I became fed up with the reptititious days without applying any new knowledge or learning, and the empty promises of being trained to do anything more. The 'pay increases' you essentially need to apply for and be approved of are a complete waste of time, as the chance of someone getting more than a five cent raise is slim to none. Favouritism radiates from the district manager to the store managers and management team in a way that is apparent to all of the staff alike. With careful contemplation of raising my extreme concerns to HR, I figured since they have done nothing in the past, it is the best indication of the forecasted path my complaint would have taken. The anonymity side of contacting HR is completely excluded from this company. Overall, being bullied into the stagnant position I found myself in for more than one year specifically because of the district manager was the exact reason why I left. Supporting such a horrible management style goes completely against what I value in life, and I would never stand for it again.
