Pros

Great products that truly help improve peoples' lives. Respected brands in the industry. Hardworking, knowledgable employees who want to make a positive impact on their customers. Good benefits including ample vacation time. Good severance packages for laid off employees.

Cons

Poor executive / upper management who are still employed because of seniority. Layoffs occur frequently and the responsibilities are expected to be handled by remaining employees. Employees are constantly in fear of losing their jobs. Employees are stretched very thin, allowing them enough time to get the bare minimum accomplished, but not enough time to excel at any one thing. Uncertainty of the long-term plans for growth - strategic direction is never a 3-5 year plan, rather it changes every year making it difficult to achieve growth. Misalignment between corporate branding (DJO) strategies and the sub-brands' strategies (Don-Joy, Chattanooga, Dr. Comfort, Bell-Horn). Poor communication to employees at sites outside Vista, CA.

Pros

A great mix of highly tenured employees and more recent hires from outside the industry, mixing industry and company knowledge with fresh ideas Great camaraderie and feeling of being part of a big family Members of SLT have a great rapport, support each other, and enjoy each others' successes Company is growing significantly better than its competitors through some challenging times Leadership has set the tone with focus on quality, efficiency, and strategic growth

Cons

Doesn't have certain benefits that are typical in larger companies, e.g. longer maternity leave Need to do better on diversity across the board (it appears to be a focus now) Some decisions impacting BU are made without the proper involvement of BU leadership Compensation continues to lag the market
