Pros

I worked at DataServ for over 3 years. In my time there, I saw many colleagues come and go. But I forged relationships with some that still stand to this day. There are definitely some amazing coworkers here, even within all of the muck.

Cons

Top leadership (the CEO and, his wife, the CFO) are beyond toxic. They will berate, demoralize, and take advantage mage of their employees at every turn. They have no vision for this company and zero strategic planning abilities, so you will also find yourself scrambling to adjust to whatever “new direction” they come up with on a quarterly basis. They have no capacity to plan and execute, and also no capacity to self-reflect on their shortcomings as leaders, so they blame anyone and everyone else for the numerous problems and failures within the company. They will also lie through their teeth to loyal employees and will take advantage of the trust employees have in them to underpay you but also put tasks on you that are outside of the scope of the job they pay you for. This company has been around since the 90’s but still operated like a flailing start-up.

DataServ (Missouri) Response

Thank you for your response. We agree, we have some awesome workers at DataServ and see our solutions continuing to develop and advance! As part of being a SaaS company, we must be agile and incorporate Agile development in all of our teams. Part of that Agile process is being able to review our focus and change as needed when the market changes and/or opportunities arise. Some people are better at shifting gears than others and we hope you have found a more suitable environment for your talent. Regarding pay and duties, we do review our compensation plan annually - against the market and internally for equity. We also do ask our employees to stretch their abilities in their current positions and look at this as development for that individual to stretch into other opportunities or promotions within DataServ. Again, we are sorry it did not work out with our working relationship but we wish you all the best in your career.

Pros

Steady paychecks are nothing to sneeze at.

Cons

Jeff Haller, the founder and CEO of DataServ, is the final word in micromanagement. Ultimately, my time here benefited me with a steady paycheck, the usual FTE benefits, and nothing else.
