Pros

Good medical, life insurance, highly-motivated and well-disciplined students, language learning progress is fast which is great to experience as an instructor.

Cons

You don't own your own class and work with a team. If you are in a good team, you lucked out, if not, you will hate your life everyday. There is not respect for your previous experience, the Army wants you to teach their way which pedagogically often does not make sense. You will take vacation as a regular government employee, so if students have a leave or vacation, you still show up at work. You have to record all of your hour and the surveillance is real.

Pros

Location is the only good thing about DLI

Cons

Horrible leadership, pay isn’t nearly enough given location. Persian Farsi school is full of former IRGC members, most toxic work environment I’ve ever seen; many professors do not even have a green card, yet have a DoD CAC- and freely travel back to Iran. Cannot stress en how bad this place is- do not apply!
