Pros

I believe in working for a company that believes in you. We are outgoing and involved in the community, we put on events & contribute to many local charitable events. They help build your knowledge & expertise, with promoting & supporting education & further developing your skills. There are abilities to move around the company in different positions to gain further knowledge, or find what your niche is. Also, there are always many changes within the company, constantly evolving/changing, it's never dull here! - Our company/management listens to our suggestions, this company is built on EVERYONE's strengths & abilities, not just the higher powers.

Cons

- Some people are scared or not sure with change. This can be intimidating to some. - A few departments are like a call-center atmosphere, and can be a bit overwhelming for some, unless you love talking on the phone.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us. And you’re right — it’s always exciting around here! Employees often tell us our community involvement is a source of pride. Did you know that in 2016, Economical (together with employees) donated $1.2 million and more than 3,814 volunteer hours to Canadian causes and communities? We really are stronger together. Knowledge is power, so encourage colleagues who are nervous about change to stay informed about our company strategy, initiatives, and changes through our Jam Sessions and Employee Symposium events. When they have a better understanding of those changes and why we’re making them, they just might get excited about being a part of it. Some work environments require a great deal of interaction over the phone to better support customer and broker needs. We appreciate the feedback and we’re continually refreshing our recruitment practices to ensure we’re hiring and supporting candidates for those roles who excel at providing customer service over the telephone.

Pros

Here's something fun: Petline hasn't launched yet but they've already made me a better pet-parent. Now certainly, "become a better pet-parent" wasn't one of my goals when I accepted the role, but I've been surprised a few times by my personal growth since I joined the team. On career goals I'll say this: to the credit of the management team at Petline, they've recognized talents and areas I where I thrive before I did. I've been given opportunities that I didn't expect and for which I am deeply grateful. Back to pet-parenting, Petline is a startup and every person at this company is heavily committed to our mission and goals. Just working alongside like-minded folks has made me consider who I am as a pet-parent. I know my pets better than I did before and I know they are happier for it. Petline won't always be a startup, but I'm confident that as we move forward it will be with integrity and the intention to foster an environment where individual strengths are recognized, and weaknesses are supported.

Cons

Petline is a startup and anyone familiar with the concept should know that it takes hard work, a lot of brainpower, and constant flexibility. It can be hard to accept and frustrating when business decisions seem to flow and change like water, but it's rewarding. It might not be for right for everyone, but when it's right, it's right.
