Pros
Huge opportunity to learn, and meet great peers who will be come your friends and family because you won't spend time anywhere else. There are many people with a lot of knowledge, doing great work when time and projects permit. There is freedom to try new things on projects, and acquire expertise through new endeavors.
Cons
Under staffing on projects, due to under scoping of budget, which results in overworked and under rewarded staff. Very high burnout. Major downside is the promotion cycle takes a very long time, so there is little recognition of good work. Everyone including managers are so swamped that they often lose site of their role in the work - support, protect, advise your team.
