Pros
The coworkers were excellent and we naturally became good friends. None of the corporate "we are family" garbage that is often put down employees' throats. It was natural friendships and companionship that helped us all enjoy the work. Good management that was flexible with my schedule and willing to work with me especially since I worked so hard whenever I was on the clock. The company gave all staff bonuses each Christmas of varying amounts depending on full-time or part-time status. Full time benefits are great for anyone looking to work up the ladder for a few years and to possibly run a store where the big money comes into play. Corporate has good old-fashioned values, but does not force the employees to follow. Giving employees the freedom to choose.
Cons
Hard work and quite a bit of skill for only decent pay. Our store at least did not enforce breaks and was constantly busy, I worked at Discount for over a year and half and never had a shift where we "cleaned" aka stood around, for more than ten minutes. Some of these stores are absolutely swamped from open to close. Store closes once the last car is serviced, so if a customer comes in at 5:59 and we close at 6:00. We have to finish that car and clean up before we can go home. Which depending on how many cars are left, can be several hours.
