Pros

Some great managers who will coach you and help you learn. Good company if you want to stay a technical lead. Good benefits. Some good opportunities ahead on the commercial side of business.

Cons

Excessive discrimination against non-whites especially individuals not born and brought up in Canada. Non whites are treated as “technical slaves”. You will have to work much harder as a non white (non western country born) to make your way up, lucky if you make it to senior manager, absolutely no representation in director and above. Ratio of non whites (or non western country born) to whites in lower level management roles versus senior leadership is skewed. Lots of slackers that continue to be employed in management as well as front line. Work culture in the regulated side of business is fast changing from competitive and engaging to bureaucratic.
