Pros

- A remarkable group of intelligent and friendly people who create an incredibly positive and collaborative working atmosphere. - Good pay - Remote working

Cons

There looms a constant existential threat of potential layoffs. The fear predominantly stems from regular redundancy rounds and the company's commitment to "openness." Company updates consistently highlight budget cuts across departments, emphasizing significant cost savings, yet the burn multiple remains alarmingly high. These updates, often presented to a mostly silent audience, skirt around the unspoken reality that the only remaining avenue for savings is through workforce reduction. Unfortunately, this fear became a reality for me during a recent round of redundancies. While Elliptic champions values such as "openness" and "empowerment," the reality is that decisions are made abruptly, leaving those supposed to be empowered suddenly unsupported. Even when individuals are laid off or go on parental leave, the delivery expectations persist unchanged. Despite these challenges, I genuinely enjoyed my time at Elliptic, and departing was bittersweet. However, I would hesitate to recommend it to anyone even remotely concerned about the toll that such a precarious work environment could take on their mental well-being.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and experiences at Elliptic. We appreciate your positive comments about the remarkable group of intelligent and friendly colleagues, the positive and collaborative working atmosphere, good pay, and the flexibility of remote working - we are really proud of this! We also want to acknowledge and understand your concerns regarding the perceived threat of potential layoffs and the challenges associated with the company's commitment to openness. We regret that your experience during our recent organisational changes left you feeling unsupported, and we appreciate your candid feedback about the disconnect between stated values and the reality of decision-making. It's disheartening to hear that you faced challenges with the delivery expectations during individual transitions, and we take your feedback seriously. We are continually working to improve our processes and communication to ensure a better experience for all our team members. We genuinely value the contributions of each team member and understand the impact of an evolving work environment on mental well-being. Your insights will be considered as we strive to create a more transparent and supportive workplace for everyone.

Pros

* Mission-focused organization tackling financial crime in the crypto space - work is meaningful and urgent * Exceptional team of smart, collaborative, and down-to-earth colleagues who show up for each other, even when things get tough. * Culture of learning and personal growth, with opportunities to deepen both technical and professional capabilities. * A high-ownership environment with ample opportunities to make a visible impact, shape the company's direction, and grow quickly - 'seize the day!' * Exposure to complex, fast-evolving challenges at the intersection of crypto, regulation, and technology * True collaborative spirit, where working cross-functionally is both encouraged and needed to succeed * The problems you will help solve at Elliptic are world-changing!

Cons

* Hypergrowth brings a level of ambiguity and constant change, maybe not for those who prefer fixed structures and daily predictability. * Prioritization triage is fundamental - internal processes and change management are evolving as the company scales and may lead to misalignment or rework at times. * Navigating shifting priorities can require resilience and adaptability, especially as the business moves quickly.
