Pros
Excitement generated by working on a college campus is complemented by some really talented staff and faculty who sincerely care about the success of students. Even as a former employee, I am very proud to say I worked there and stay connected to many who still are there.
Cons
Even before COVID, higher education has proven to be a challenging place to work and constantly meet enrollment goals. Unfortunately, a lack of diversity in senior leadership persists, but there are many very gifted and dedicated directors/managers of color and who are female that make a significant impact in the success of the University and the students they directly interact with. Work/life balance simply depends on the job you have.
