Terrible pay for a GREAT work/life balance - Assistant Professor Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University Employee Review

Pros

Work/life balance and overall workload is very low, once you've gotten your feet wet and taught a course through one time. The schedule is unbeatable. The students are usually great. Middle managers are also great.

Cons

Pay absolutely sucks for such an expensive (overpriced) private school. This is constantly mind-boggling to us who work here, as we all know that UND, ASU, any school we could go to anywhere else in this country and even in this state would pay 10-30% more for the same job, while charging students 30-60% less in tuition. Now, with the cost of living rising out of control in Prescott, it's time for them to increase our salaries, but somewhere between the Florida campus (DB), and Prescott (PR), there are too many pockets being lined. DB runs PR, and I do not think they'll react quickly enough and there will be increasing attrition among us faculty who are being poached, either by other universities or the aviation industry. It's a shame that we have to accept such sub-par pay here, because it is a wonderfully inclusive, happy atmosphere to work.

Pros

Most staff are great people. Working with the students is a real bonus, great energy.

Cons

Senior leadership are snakes. If you look up toxic work environment, they click off almost every box. It's sad really because there are so many great reasons to work there.
