Pros
If you know what you want and how you want to grow, it's possible to have a really positive experience here. It's important to be motivated, be specific, become an expert, and take ownership of a specific piece of what makes the company function. There are holes in the operation (like any growing company), and if you are motivated and you go for it and hit the ground running with something valuable, that's hard to argue with and you will gain respect and independence. Roles are notoriously undefined here, so the way to thrive is to take advantage of that and prove your value the old fashioned way- with hard work. To thrive: Figure out how you can be valuable, work hard, set boundaries for yourself and drown out the noise. If you can do this, Formlabs is a great place for you.
Cons
In general, the main downfalls here are emotionally immature management, nepotism, an inner click at the top that is impossible to penetrate, and a petty, gossipy atmosphere. I will echo what a previous post said: You can't ask for quick, cheap and good, but they always want all three. The lack of vacation policy means you will be judged poorly for taking time off- because of the pace of the work and the lack of organization, taking a week off is more stressful than not, anyhow. A lot of startup jargon and management philosophy is tossed around here, and sometimes it feels like management is responding with Silicon Valley soundbites instead of having a real conversation.
